New Outfit for Gene- The Perfect Gift ensemble

I have been very busy and The Studio Commissary   message board recently celebrated their anniversary with contests, fun and one of the contests I won an outfit that was donated- an Ashton-Drake ensemble 'The Perfect Gift'. I treasure items of this nature because these are additions to my collection and also from friends and acquaintances on the doll message boards when I participate in the Christmas card exchanges as well. So many fun and creative people who do so many enchanting things with their doll collections.

My Integrity Madra Lord saw this suit at once and claimed it as 'hers' and I thought of doing a set for Christmas with her shopping in it, it is so green and festive.

Maybe next year when I have more space and time to build!

The hat , reticule/purse and corsage on this are just lovely. The suit fits like a glove and is lined. I adore the way the hat fits close to the head. The reticule is a drawstring type and has tassels on it. It has the old 1940's era of Ladies who Lunch. Enjoy!

W Club Poppy Parker- Curiouser Curiouser - out of the box!

I received this doll eons ago it seems now...I took photos of her a few months ago when I received her, but I did not de-box her. For a few months now I have not been 'into' my dolls as I have been sorting, cleaning, etc. and that is just not my gig. I am mostly a hoarder when it comes to my dolls and dolly stuff so now I am finding 'new' treasuers I had long forgotten about, which I am sure most can identify with and am finding the cleaning not so bad since I am finding dolly stuff I had long forgotten about. :)

David Butry knocked it out the park with this one and she is so gorgeous. Just what the doll collector wants! Alice in Wonderland. They have done this theme before but for IFDC and she had more of a Misaki look to her.

 Enjoy!

August Gene Sewing Projects and Barbie

This is my first post for August and I have not been doing much with my 1:6 scale dolls...I have yet to de-box my W CLub Alice- Curiouser & Curiouser Poppy Parker! AND I just put the deposit down for 'Suited for Travel Poppy Parker the other day and I am waiting for the Cheer Poppy Parker to arrive! So I will have two Poppys that will desperately need to escape their boxes and alot of switching around on the shelves for placement. The dolls need more camera attention.

On the Barbie girl- no I have not seen the movie yet, though I would like to...one of the reasons is I cannot bring myself to pay $21++ dollars to go to a theater to see a movie. Call me cheap but that is an obscene amount of money to attend a movie. And usually in the evenings I am tired after all that I do all day. I would say weekends during the day would be better, but my weekends are usually reserved for running errands, etc. and unwinding. I have figured out I can spend that amount on the DVD and pre-order the movie and watch it as much as I like in the comfort of my own home without paying a fortune on the hype and overpriced popcorn.

I have found a cute magazine at Walmart that was really cute and did a fun photo spread on the history of Barbie. Good for the price and great to add to a collector's library.

It is currently running $13.99 and has some interesting articles on Ruth Handler, the history of Barbie, and lots of photos spreads. Highly recommend, worth the price. And, yes I hope to get the movie dolls soon. They are just too cute.

My current projects have been to finish up some fall outfits for the Tonner doll and Gene dolls. I finished two cute skirts for my Madra and Ivy dolls, holding a fall cake in front of my vintage Wolverine fridge.

Madra's skirt is a plaid soft chiffon like material, and Ivy's skirt is a Halloween cotton print with small bats and fall leaves on it. I was really pleased with how it turned out. My original idea was to stage this with a couple of Madame Alexander Wendy dolls dressed for Halloween like they were having a party/ trick or treating in the kitchen and the Gene dolls were baking cookies and candy in the kitchen.

Enjoy! Hope to be back here with more postings soon.
