Valentine's day cakes...

I have new items in my Doll Food section of Pumpkin Hill Studios on Ebay

I have been working hard on creating 1:6 scale and 1:4 scale Valentine's day cake and cookie sets for the dolls! I am especially proud of the 1:4 scale Gene Marshall/ Tonner cake set as it is decorated with tiny raspberries and tiny heart shaped decorated/ iced cookies.  The 1:6 scale cakes are also decorated with iced sugar cookies and tiny striped pink and white candies! Each cake comes with a slice cut out, ready for serving!

Hopefully I will have more pastries and other items for the upcoming holidays soon! ~Enjoy!

Gene Marshall Ice Skating on the pond!

My new doll arrived and she is so adorable! She is a prize I won off one of the doll message boards called  The Studio Commissary which is a doll message board for doll collectors of Gene Marshall and friends.

During the Christmas holidays, they had some fun games with prizes, and by chance I won this lovely Ashton -Drake Gene Marshall doll wearing a beautiful ice skating costume that had been pieced together and donated by a generous collector. She just arrived and I knew when I saw her that I had to create a picture perfect scene for her. So here she is- Gene is ice skating on the pond.

The trees are ones that operate on batteries I purchased at Michael's on sale a few years ago, with coupons, and so are the potted faux plants. The 'snow' is that rolled Christmas blanket snow which can be cut to arrange around Christmas villages or around the base of your tree. The 'pond' is actually a boudoir mirror I purchased on sale for $5 at Dollar General.

I was so pleased when I lucked out and found this little boudoir/ perfume bottle -vanity tray mirror by chance. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Now I can created other winter / ice skating scenes for my other dolls too. I knew if it sat flat =flat on the surfact it would be too low.

Enjoy! and I hope you visit the Studio Commissary doll board, it has some great links and vintage photos and collectors to connect with!

Welcome to 2021- Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2021- Happy New Year! Here's to starting the new year off right....

I was looking back at some of my older blog posts from the last few years, and thought I would see what my past 'goals' and plans were for the doll room, my collection, etc. had been in the past. I had to go all the way back to 2015 to find a New Year's 'resolution' or 'goal' post. New Year's Day 2015 Click on the title to read the post.

I don't know what I will be doing as far as goals this year. Collecting more of what I love? Barbie Collector is impressing me-- NOT. Refusing to jump on the W Club / Integrity Toys 'edgy' bandwagon 'just because' it's the coolest release? (Frankly I am sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of dolls from the company , while though beautiful, some of them are too runway for my taste. I guess that is why I prefer the Poppy Parker dolls. I am a sucker for Agnes Von Weiss, she is my favorite character though. ) I have fallen into a new Vintage Barbie/ doll taste, which is beginning to be just as expensive as my Poppy Parker addiction.

So here is a list of what I want to accomplish-

1- Work on furnishing the French Fashion dollhouse, which needs beds, and other furnishings for Annabelle and Marie Terese, my reproduction french fashion dolls. Also sew for them more clothes.

2- like to work on sewing doll quilts. I have the fabric, just need to get started.

3- Would like to acquire more 16 inch dolls. My list so far is:

Franklin Mint Princess Diana Blue Chanel Suit Mint in Box

Ashton Drake Trent Osbourne Doll in tuxedo / or suit

*Tonner Scarlett O'Hara doll in BBQ Dress

*Tonner Scarlett O'Hara Doll in Curtain Dress

*Tonner Scarlett O'Hara Doll in White ruffled dress

W Club Gene or Madra

I have more on my list...but that is the start. The Tonner dolls go up and down in Price range, just like the vintage Cissy dolls do.

4- Expand my vintage Christmas ornament collection. Weird I know, but I love Shiny Brites and Hallmark ornaments. I have started collecting Barbie Hallmark ornaments. Am embarking on purchasing a pink tree to display them on. :)

5- Expand my vintage Depression Bubble glass collection. I have some Anchor Hocking bubble glass plates as well as the matching glasses, in emerald green, now I want the red. It would be so wonderful to have red for Valentine's day, as well as Christmas or New Year's. I already use the Green ones for St. Patrick's day and the holidays now.

Yes, I am a vintage china and glass nut. :)

So right now my goals are not that over the top, just basic. Collect a few dolls if I can find them in my price range, if not, they are on the to-collect list. Still work on some sewing projects, and my glass-china-collecting mania.

Hoping your dolly dreams and caviar wishes come true!

Have a Happy New Year! ~Lisa
