My new doll tour video on YouTube

I have just uploaded a new doll town video, my first , on YouTube.  Click on the video above. This is a slideshow of the current photos of my doll town, which I affectionately call 'Barbietown' privately. (I may have to change that as there are many doll videos called Barbie town!) These are the most up to date and past photos of LaBelle's at Christmas, as well as its interior and photos of the town at night.

Sneak Peek...& Art for your dollhouse dioramas

With the ups and downs recently in my life, my routine is all out of whack...Just yesterday was I only able to get the decorations off of my Christmas trees! Today I thought I would get back on track with some sneak peak photos of what I am working on as well as a tutorial and some art photo files for you to copy to make your own elegant art for your dollhouse &/or diorama.
Here is what I have been working on, this is by no means finished, just set up and held together. 

It is a simple curtained aclove, done in the French manner. I am nuts and fascinated by all things French, especially from the 18th century- Rococco and from the era of Louis XVl & Marie Antoinette. I sewed the curtains out of some taupe satin I had, and the pouf drapes are out of a green satin and the same taupe satin. I still have alot of work to do on those curtains, such as cording and tassels. 
The photo is of Marie Antoinette when she was a young Dauphine, the photo frame is an ornament frame from Michael's dollar bins. I was not happy with the glitter on it but it does add a bit of pop to this project, however it is difficult to photograph. I copied the photo from google image search and put it in a special folder on my computer. Cut to fit your frame- and voila! art for your dollhouse! I have wanted to do an art gallery scene for my doll town with a story I have in mind, but have never got around to it since doing research on this project, which will be indepth this year. 
So here are some of my photo files of beautiful Art I have found on the web in my google searches. I love American Primitive as well, but that would not fit into this scene...I admit to a fondness for allegory art with the Greek gods and goddesses- it is interesting how they used these paintings in the 17th and 18th century.

I hope some of these will help for your focal art points in your dioramas. As you can tell, my style tends towards traditional colonial/ French than towards modern. So many dioramas are done in modern motif and it can be well, boring and uncomfortable looking. I think it is a result growing up in the Southern Region of the East Coast (Virginia) and being around antiques and large old houses which heavily influenced my taste in decor. My dolls have my taste- lol so they are a little snobby as most Fashion Royalty dolls are!

As I get and find more art pieces, I will post them here so you too can make or create your own art. One tip is if you are creating an art studio, is to take these cutouts and modge podge them onto small canvases that you can buy in packs at Michael's in the art department. Frames can be purchased also at miniature shops or in the dollar frame sections of walmart, Target, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. It all depends on your idea of your scene or diorama and how much detail you want.

Tuesday Morning bargains...

Sorry for being so late with a post in the new year, but I have been very busy of late. Part of it is the preparations for the frigid cold temperatures here in Virginia- there hasn't been anything like this since 1988, according to the weather and years before that as well. Last night it was 7 degrees! Hubby and I had alot of preparations to do on the vehicles and the house, making sure pipes would not feeze, etc.
I finally got it together to go by a local Tuesday Morning I had not been to in a while to check the deals out and look for another Emmett Twilight doll..I have all of the Twilight dolls except Edward. But I want another Emmett for a very ambitious project I am currently working on, which I will reveal more on later. After reading Vanessa's post on her Tuesday morning Fashion Dolls at Van's Doll Treasures I decided to go by and see if I couldn't score some great deals.

My first score was an Only Hearts Fairy Prince & Unicorn set. I have never seen an Only Hearts club boy doll, he is Prince Trevor on the orange unicorn. $9.99  His little fairy costume and crown come off revealing a plain stuffed/wired body in blue denium underneath. I plan to use him in the family/project I am working on, and he will be redressed, I will more than likely paint his little shoes which do not come off. The unicorn is cute and will make a great gift for someone.
I scored more Only hearts outfits for 3.99. The little sneakers are great and they do fit Poppy Parker! I bought two matching outfits as these fit Stacey dolls and some of the items also fit mini American Girl dolls as well as the Chelseas.

 Sorry about the photos being fuzzy. More Only Hearts items were for the small toddler dolls, shoe paks and clothing packs at .99 cents each.

These are great deals, and I think besides fitting some of the Kelly dolls, they will also fit my tiny Felix Brownie Bjd's.

The best deal at this Tuesday Morning was this Barbie Basics the look doll- city shopper with the brunette. I had already scored the blonde with the grey sweater dress on and the more popular Steffie one. I hadn't been able to snag the African American one with the beautiful ponytail, I could never find her. I love this brunette but had given up on getting her from either Target or Tuesday Morning! I love these Barbie Basics as they come with shopping bags, and cute outfits that look good on the Fashion Royalty dolls.

As I move farther along on my new diorama project, which will be indepth and time consuming- I will post pictures. I am taking my time as there is alot to do before I get to the point where photos will be a good thing. Right now I am embarking on assembling the dolls for the doll family, as well as working on drafting their clothing and the furniture for the diorama as well. The only hints I will give is - it is a period historical diorama (no, not the Ingalls family again!) - much earlier- the 18th century. That is all I can give away at this point!

Broadway Magic Jem & the HOlograms for sale

I have just listed my Broadway Magic Jem and the Holograms doll with stage on Ebay a day or two ago. Item has never been removed from its box except to check the doll and the stage has never been taken out of its packaging, still factory sealed. I am asking $332 for it plus shipping, which will be minimal if you are in the USA, I also will insure it at my own expense and item requires signature confirmation.

Merry Christmas to all!

I would love to thank all of you who follow my blog and for all of your interest in my dollhouse. I started this blog a few years ago when I purchased this dollhouse for myself, at the same time I opened my doll and dollhouse miniature shop King William Miniatures. I never thought there would be so very much interest in a 1:6 scale 'Barbie' dollhouse, but there was as I created, and decorated for the dollhouse. With the storyline of the cast of characters, it is only natural the dollhouse should reside in a town and more dioramas and famillies should come to live in the One Sixth Scale dollhouse. So thank you to all- I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone! Here it is Christmas Eve...this post may be a tad different than yesterday's! For One, I deboxed Jack Sparrow, aka Johnny Depp. My dolls were quite insistent that such a hottie should not sit on the shelf condemned to a ridiculous pirate outfit. So I thought it would be fun to have some 'fun' with Jack, and he willingly obliged.  Who couldn't resist Johnny Depp even in doll pirate makeup? I know I couldn't! 

Enjoy the Christmas hottie! Jack is reclining in my rare no longer manufactured Bespaq bedroom suite in the main dollhouse- Maison de la Royale, which belongs to my no. 1 doll Agnes Von Weiss (Concerto in M) who hasn't found her Christmas present yet!
