Goodwill thrift store doll finds!

I went into the Goodwill yesterday, one of my favorite ones. They have been starting to 'bag' multiples of dolls/ Barbies now and I thought I would maybe get lucky....and boy did I! 

I found a vintage Scooby-Doo Sherlock plush, he was cute. I also browse through their books because it is cheaper to pay $3 or less for hardbacks and paperbacks there then anywhere else and I found an Alison Weir book. But back to the Barbies. Here is what I found for $5.99 in the bag!!! 

This is the original bag. Just so you know, look in your toy section and they bag them up in gallon size ziplock freezer bags. 

There were 7 dolls in all, four Barbies, mixed and three Kelly sized dolls. Four were Disney. 

My research says this is 1991-1996? Octoberfest Dolls of the World Barbie. She is in great condition, just missing shoes and socks 

This appears to be a Fashion Fever/ Disco Ball Barbie still has her stockings and phone/ purse attachment and jewelry! Very cute. Missing her shoes. 

This was the doll I grabbed the bag for! Early 2000s Birthstone Beauty- Aquamarine Barbie. STILL has her jewelry, missing the cute dog and her shoes. I love and adore that steffie face!

Mattel Disney Holiday Princess Cinderalla? Missing her shoes and it appears she also had a matching cape, I think edged in fur. Very high quality doll. Beautiful face. 

 The last three little dolls surprised me- they are mini Disney Princesses- Beauty  the Beast, Cinderalla, Aurora. All have their shoes, stockings, outfits complete! They are really cute! 

Some of these I may keep, some I may sell, but well worth the $5.99 bag!!

Countdown to Christmas... Day 9

I am continuing the Countdown to Christmas with my last of my Cinderella dolls with my special Lady Tremaine doll I purchased from the Disney website when they had a sale. 

This Lady Tremaine was not for sale in stores, but only from Disney. I am learning more about the Disney dolls, and they really make some lovely collector dolls, but, like the W Club, you have to be in the know. So signing up for the Disney website emails, helps. Their collector dolls have not tempted me yet, but I am getting there, as they are 1:6 scale on some of them. Some of them they make 17 inches high, which are lovely too. 

Lady Tremaine in this version wears the famous dress with the huge hat when she comes home with Ella's father. It is a Black/dark green brocade velvet, travel dress, with a Victorian spin on it. From the many movie versions I have watched of Cinderella, movie costume designers and directors cannot make up their minds when  or what era Cinderella lived in. I like the movie that Drew Barrymore did the most- Ever After. When one of her descendents , a Princess or Queen. is talking to the Barons Grimm after the Revolution and reveals to them the glass slipper. That is the most romantic and timeless. The costuming is lovely, and the story is more believable. 

Here is Lady Tremaine in all of her Victorian glory. They did her hair not so bright but more of an auburn in this version. 

The dress has a flocked design at the bottom of the hem that glitters slightly. Underneath is a black velvet skirt. She also wears short black boots. I think this is meant to be a very elegant travel dress.

Countdown to Christmas ...Day 8

I am doing two posts this morning as yesterday on Friday I forgot to do my Countdown to Christmas post. I had alot to do in preparation before it began to snow and it totally slipped my mind! So today's two posts will deal with my two versions will be about Lady Tremaine. 

The first one is the very popular in the lime green ballgown. Her face sculpt is wonderful and I purchased several dolls of this one. 

I currently have one that has been re-bodied and am planning another one to be re-bodied to be customized versions of Queen Elizabeth l based on the movie Elizabeth. I loved that movie and the costumes. I am in the process of having a friend re-root her as I want to do the coronation costume, the Armada armour, and a young Elizabeth as well. Tudor history is one of my favorite times in history and this line of customs is one my bucket list. 
Onto my next Lady Tremaine!

Countdown to Christmas Day 7 with the continuation of the Disney Cinderella dolls ...next is the Fairy Godmother.  I love how they got the face on this doll exactly like the actress.

CountDown to Christmas...Day 6

Countdown to Christmas continues with the continuance of the Cinderella Disney line of Ella After dolls. Today is the bride doll, which I have never de-boxed. 

This doll is really lovely. I wish I had purchased two , one to keep in the box and one to take out and re-body to play with.

Review of Disney & Mattel Lady Tremaine dolls from Cinderalla movie...

Recently I ordered the Disney version of Lady Tremaine from the Disney website when they had deep discounted prices about a week or two ago, and I was finally able to receive her yesterday. 

Here she is side by side with Mattel's version of Lady Tremaine. 

The Disney box was a little less elaborate but had this cool pop out butterfly on the front that kind of lifts. You may want to keep this for some prop art in your dioramas for a shop window. She was also a little easier to get out of the box than the Mattel version. 

The Disney version of course, has that wonderful traveling Victorian/Edwardian gown where she steps out of the coach with Cinderalla's father and her two daughters. This gown has a deep black velveteen straight aline skirt underneath the emerald green overskirt, which is lined with tissue paper to keep it from staining the doll's legs. She also has plastic Victorian high heeled boots on trimmed in the same green. Her legs are straight and seem to be hollow like the Mattel version, but I think they might bend. Her underskirt is stuffed with tissue to make it puff out too. The hat is heavy resin/plastic with a comb but may have a little difficulty sticking into her hair but stays. 

The Disney doll's head is bigger than the Mattel version and is more pink/flesh toned than the Mattel version- though I have to admit the Mattel version seems more Cate Blanchett and true to life. But I do like both. I just hate those plastic gloves on the Mattel version.

With the discounts, I was able to purchase her for 9.99 plus shipping for 16.79 altogether from the Disney website.  I am not sure if she is still available. I purchased three or four of the Mattel Lady Tremaines as they were my favorites and I wanted to transplant a couple of them onto Fashion Royalty bodies and do a Queen Elizabeth l doll, from the Cate Blanchett movie  'Elizabeth'  which I have in my dvd collection. I have a book by Sir Roy Strong on Queen Elizabeth l's gowns and portraits and have been deciding which one I would like to replicate. I have the doll and body, just need to decide now which fabrics and how to do her hair, which is the hardest part, and jewelry findings, and so on. I also want to keep one in the box too, one out of the box for display/play in my ballroom scenes as I do like her as she is too. 

I also have the Fairy Godmother and Cinderalla. I have wanted to get multiples of these two dolls as well, for customs. Lily James I have wanted to do a Downtown Abbey doll in the 20's costume , and I have wanted to do a Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter too. I really love my fantasy dolls alot. 

The only fault I could find wrong with her is her head size, it is a little large, but that was it, and the body of course is not articulated. All in all the outfit is very nicely made. 
I hope in the future to get some reviews of Cinderalla and the Fairy Godmother up here soon. ~Lisa
