Gene Marshall and Trent- I Do..

These photos of Gene and Trent in wedding attire are from the archives--I used a wedding gown from a damaged porcelain doll and tried it on Stardust Gene and it created the effect I wanted. I have always wanted to do a wedding party for my Gene dolls, with a teen-age doll like a Marley Wentworth as a bridesmaid, and some Madame Alexander Wendy dolls as Flower Girls and a ring bearer. Once I get my doll room moved and my 1:4 scale dollhouse set up for my Gene and Tonner dolls, I may just stage a wedding party in the 1:4 scale mansion I am planning, complete with wedding in progress in the parlor, reception, food, kitchen staff, maids, etc. There will be alot of sewing and doll collecting to do! LOL. And food crafting! I have so much large scale Bespaq and I have always wanted a large scale dollhouse to display it all, but there is no room in my current dollroom. Hoping to change that in the upcoming year or so.

Enjoy the photos, more to come in the month of June, celebrating brides.

Vanessa Loves June Weddings... World Doll Day!

Today's celebration of brides is an old one from the archives of Vanessa with my own bridal tiara, leaning up against a Bespaq chair with roses in her bouquet and on her dress, for a dreamy photo moment. I remember this is when I really began to experiment with props and larger items with dolls to create 'moments' and make my photography with fashion dolls 'pop' after reading a book by Pat Henry on lighting, fixtures, exposure on cameras, etc. Now I let my camera phone do everything, lol.
Today is World Doll Day, so share pics of your dolls and have fun.

Malibu Francie wearing Wedding Whirl #1233 Japan

For a little different spin, here is Malibu Francie wearing Wedding Whirl #1233 Japan. This is an adorable little dress that I purchased in a large Barbie doll case lot with two cases, dolls and clothing and kept a lot of little gems and sold some. I am still several years later after that auction, still sorting through this lot of doll clothing items and researching them and learning about them. Google lens is my friend and so is the camera upload feature on Ebay. I have not found the accessories in this lot such as the veil or bouquet or the shoes, but those can be completed on Ebay or at doll shows. The table is Bespaq and I created the wedding cake.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

I have not posted in a very long while, but I am hoping that will change soon as I am attempting- to organize the dolls and their clothing and get together some new color coordinated backdrops for the vintage dolls for photodrops. I have taken something of a hiatus from purchasing new dolls except for the Poppys on pre-order- (Curiouser and Curiouser Alice Poppy Parker should be arriving soon!) and so should Stand Up and Cheer! Poppy when we get the payment notice in the upcoming months.

Here are some photos from the archives!

Closet re-arrangement for Bespaq collection

This weekend I took one day and did a full re-arrangement of the doll closet shelves as I have been dissatisfied with them. One shelf has Barbie props assortment, and the other shelves have my Gene and Tonner dolls with various Bespaq, but not ALL of the collection which is still in boxes. Then there was my incredible 1:6 scale wood staircase I purchased a couple of years ago from a dealer in China on Ebay, (I saw the same prop on JATMAN in one of her stories and she gave the link on her site. I had to have it for my dolls) And it has been worrying me ever since the dollhouse has been moved to the dollroom where am I going to store this delicate piece so it is showcased?? Answer- on the dollshelf.

First, I started with each shelf and took off all dolls and furniture. I had several yards of green velvet on hand and I wanted to line each shelf with the green velvet to showcase the furniture. I cut the velvet to size and laid it out. It did not lay as smoothly as I would have liked but it looked quite stunning. Then I began getting the furniture out of its boxes and doing placement. I still do not have all of the large pieces in place- the 1:3 scale hat vanity, for the big girls, the piano, the wardrobe, but I have most of the pieces.

Here are a few photos. These photos show the closet full length and the velvet draped over the sides of each shelf.

One of the main things I wanted to accomplish was to take the table that had been my mother's doll table (not a Bespaq table) and use it with my Windsor chairs to create a dining room. This will be for a Thanksgiving scene project still in the works.

Here you can see Vee sitting at the table and the various chairs. There is also the Queen Ann desk in the background behind her.

Here is on one shelf I displayed the 1:6 scale props, - the staircase first with my french fashion dolls- a UFDC Marcus, my reproduction French Fashion doll Annabelle near the stairs, and my Marie Terese (alice leverette UFDC 2010 DOLL) Sitting in the bespaq chair near the wardrobe, nightstand, and mirror, all 1:6 scale in the far left corner.

To the right of the room on this shelf, are the swan vanity and matching chair, 1:4 Scale Victorian table and chairs, the hat vanity at the front, and various Gene props and luggage. One of my Integrity Genes is sitting in the back and my Franklin Mint Princess Diana is standing near the swan vanity. I am still doing furniture and doll placement as not all the props are placed on the shelves nor are the dolls.

Let's see what happened to all the kitchen props for Barbie!

I had to do quite a bit of manipulating of dolls and space on the dollshelves here to make room for Skipper's bed and the Barbie wardrobe closet. I moved my miniature scrapbook store to the bottom shelf Fluffy my cat adores laying on and the kitchen accessories and props were moved to that shelf where I can have a kitchen scene if I need to quickly.

I pulled out my Bespaq chaise lounge which needed repairing so I will have more photos when that gets set up on the top shelf with the french chairs.

Enjoy!

Large Scale Bespaq alert

I browse auction sites frequently and found some Large Scale  Bespaq  on sale here May 22nd HiBid auction  the first lots end at 1 pm

The first lot is LOT 103 A LARGE SCALE DOLL ARMOIRE  20 in t with mirror but it is actually a large scale hat vanity.

2 pieces of Bespaq doll house furniture  is how LOT 130 IS LISTED, but it is actually a large scale Bespaq chair which I estimate would fit 18-22 inch dolls and a 20 inch cabinet. Very rare, not manufactured any longer

this item is not even labeled Bespaq, but it is. A very rare cabinet that can hold china, teacups , perfume bottles, jewelry. and has a drawer. 24 inches high

These are all on the auction site listed on the links above, the auction house will ship and they seem to have a good reputation. Right now the prices/ bids are not high.

Tasha Tudor Day...

For many of those of you, you may not know that my profile pic of myself was taken many years ago in front of the Tasha Tudor dollhouse in Williamsburg when it was on display in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller museum. This dollhouse, sadly is no longer on display and was specially built to house Tasha's remarkable miniature collection for Thaddeus and Emma , a life size set of dolls she made herself measure 15-16 inches in height.

Today would have been 102 birthday. As a child I enjoyed her lovely illustrations for such books by Rumor Godden, such as The Dolls House and
A is for Annabelle which was the inspiration for my reproduction french fashion doll Annabelle.

So here are a few photos of Annabelle preparing for tea from the archives. I would have liked to do some new photos, but my schedule didn't allow for that.
