Happy Easter! I hope you have enjoyed this Easter Sunday. Easter is and has always been a family holiday since I was a young child, we prepared the whole week. My mother and I would spend a whole month shopping for dresses, shoes, etc. and the week was spent preparing and shopping for the food- we usually made a baked ham which was labor intensive with the pineapple and cherries. In memory of my mother, we decorate the dogwood tree in our front yard with easter eggs on brighly colored ribbons each year, as this was something she loved to do! I used to do the tree full, from the upper branches and it was time consuming when I was younger. I would prepare the eggs a few months in advance, stringing them. As my husband and I have aged, climbing the ladder is not something either of us looks forward to- so we do the lower branches now.
The plate of homemade Chocolate Easter eggs are new, my Eastern Star chapter Hanover Chapter #130 in Ashland Va does a fundraiser each year making Easter eggs in 4 ounces and a variety pack of 2 ounce eggs, which you see here on the plate with the Lefton bunnies- in Orange cream, buttercream, coconut, and peanut butter varieties. I put two variety packs on the platter. They cost $10 each. We buy them to support our chapter and give as gifts at Easter and they taste so good. The chapter uses vintage molds to make the eggs and it is a great fundraiser. Enjoy! God Bless You and Happy Easter!
