The Richmond Doll, Toy and Teddy Bear show was in Mechanicsville Va today and I attended. It had originally been scheduled at the Moose lodge in Mechanicsville, but was moved back at the last minute to its original location at the American Legion on Bell Creek Road where it was at last year. I attended and lots of good dealers, and lots of my doll club members from both doll clubs as dealers and attendees, were there. I did not take pictures this year as it was too tightly packed and some dealers do not want you taking photos and there was alot of socializing, so I just didn't do it this year. I just really wanted to shop and not worry about my phone. But I did buy!
I purchased five dolls from three different dealers- two of them my friends! I have to say i was looking for all of the dolls at one point of another.
Let's start with the Silkstone Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds Barbie Nude doll. I purchased her from two ladies who are dealers mother/daughter team for $70, not a bad price. I have been wanting this doll for a long time now. She was in fairly good condition. My most expensive doll of the day that I bought.
Vintage 1965 Blonde haired Scooter with her original swimsuit. I purchased her from my friend Debbie who is president of the Va. Fashion doll club for $35 and I have always wanted wanted a blonde. I have a red head- now I will need a black haired one. She is so adorable with those brown eyes. Debbie had put a plastic band around her ponytails to keep them in place. I really really love her.
From my friend Karon I purchased these dolls in baggies in her dollies bin for $15 apiece! What was funny is I had been looking for these for a while. The more I searched through her bin- the most I found. These dolls I had wanted for a while to stage in my Our Generation diner with my Poppy Parker Sugar and Spice and my Mystery Date Bowling Dolls. They have that 1950's era look. The Barbie Loves Elvis is just missing her shoes, which I can find some shoes for her.
