January 31st, Sunday was our January meeting & the theme was Wintergreen ski club. All the dolls were dressed in ski attire, or skating attire, sweaters, scarves, warm winter jackets, woolens, like they were vacationing at Wintergreen ski resort in the mountains of Virginia. Our refreshments were comfort food themed too- casseroles, warm gooey donuts, tomato soup, pastries, chips and salsa, and more!
Here a few of the photos from the meeting. The centerpiece, a skating rink was the convention centerpiece one of our members Barbara, won at a past Barbie Convention.
Our doll club meetings as usual go overboard on the presentations, the displays, the food, but we have tons of fun. It was held at the marvelous Jodie's house. Here is a quick review of her incredible doll room- & some of her displays-
There are over 100 pics in this album on my Flicker photos so I won't post more here! It was a long meeting with lots of eye candy. Especially if you are a vintage Barbie nut. Have a drink and tie one on, lol. When I got there the major doll contributers were bringing plastic TUBS of dressed dolls with skis, skates, and ski chalets to set up the presentation. No half baked foamcore setups for us! lol......
Other Barbie News.....
I just ordered the first articulated Silkie, Classic Black Dress Barbie Silkstone who is now available at BarbieCollector. com website. With my $20 reward she was only $25.95 with shipping. She may not be shipped until somewhere until 3/1/2016 since it says on the website she is a pre-order. I'm hoping she will be shipped before that.
The other silkies are 50% off on the website, so if you haven't been able to order, they are on sale now! Debating whether to order some of the others. Just can't decide.

Oh my doll! That's what I call a collection! I wish I had half of that storage space to keep my dolls and their accesories. I'm also glad you had so much fun at the meeting.
Cheers
thank you! Our meetings are made possible by two or three very dedicated members , or actually more, who are heavily heavily into vintage. There are more of us who are into other dolls like Fashion Royalty and Poppy Parker, and Tonner dolls and bjd's too, like me, but just a few. Most of the ladies love vintage and can't wrap their heads around anything other than Silkstone Barbie or Vintage Barbie. They love it when I or one of the other collectors bring a Poppy Parker because she resembles Francie or vintage Barbie in her outfits, but they have a problem with the expense, etc. which mystifies me when you are getting the quality and articulation. Jodie's collection is astounding but the other ladies in the club- their collections are just as amazing as well.
Wow that's an impressive collection display!
Doll meetings and doll shows are the best. I really like the theme. I got a little chill just looking at the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
We really do have alot of fun at the meetings. We also bring show n tell items that we have recently acquired, which is helpful if you're on the fence about purchasing a doll, you actually get to see it. We also always have a door prize or two where you put your name on a dollar and put it in a bag and the treasurer does a drawing - usually oneof the ladies donates the prize. It is not always doll related. We also plan our next meeting and at this one we planned where we were going to hold Barbie's birthday in March, usually at a restuarant where we exchange gifts- non doll related with a value of $15. We like to get away from the doll stuff since we all have so much doll stuff- and it makes it fun and more girl fun. We also bring a favorite Barbie dressed to celebrate. I am planning on attending this year, last year I missed it and was so bummed because of another function I had to attend. We usually go to some neat places with great private rooms so I will get great photos.
I love seeing your doll club photos...what an amazing collection and I love how it's displayed. It's so fun that you have a group of women you can meet with and share your love of dolls...priceless! :)
