Our VA Fashion Doll Club meeting was yesterday on October 7th. This was our big meeting with our club raffle. It was held at our club President's home, and she went all out decorating.
Our club raffle is held each year to fund our Christmas party which is usually a fun place the club members choose to go- somewhere to have tea, and enjoy the Christmas decor. This year it is being held at the Jefferson hotel which hosts a wonderful Christmas tea.
Our centerpiece table with bring your dolls dressed in Halloween attire.
Our Food looked amazing as well. We were asked to think up spooky names for our treats. I brought apple slices with caramel, or 'Poisoned Apples with Caramel dip anitdote' ...
Debbie (our Club President) went all out decorating her home, even the staircase as you entered the hallway, you were greeted by Halloween Kellys coming down the staircase...
The Previous raffle year, our Vice-President Janice had purchased everyone a pink pumpkin and we were asked to bring it so we could all do our trick or treating with each other. They made a cool pink Barbie display on Debbie's sofa..
These were the raffle items gathered..
....and I also won the raffle item prize donated by Leslie! More on that later- as it was awesome! I need to take closeup photos of it. It was just gorgeous.

This was such a fun post! All of the dolls are just gorgeous and the food was so creative! And loved the Kelly's on the staircase. So adorable! I wouldn't even be able to talk if I were there, I'd be too busy looking at all those lovely dolls. Now I'm going to go back through the post to re-look at the photos. Thanks for sharing! You always seem to have so much fun with your doll friends/club. I love it and hope someday I can find a similar local group of friends that are also enjoying this hobby. :)
I totally agree with Farrah! The is a great post. I too will have to go back through the pictures and look more slowly at everything! You guys look like you must have tons of fun! The food was especially a nice touch. I have tried to have meetings in Philly but can't get it on your level! I have to sneak down there. Thanks for posting! You made my day!
Our club was started back in the 1990's,1995 I believe. I did not join until 2006. Our current club President, was very close friends to the former club President Beverly, and they both can be seen in past issues of Barbie Bazaar. In fact at this meeting one of our members had found a picture of Debbie and Beverly from 2000 or so, showing a spread on Skipper when the club was called the Virginia Barbie collector club. (There was a time when Mattel allowed clubs to include Barbie's name in the club names. After 2005 or 2006, we had to change our club name to the Va Fashion Doll Club because Mattel no longer allowed clubs to use Barbie since it was a patented part of their product)
Our meetings last a very long time and have a HUGE amount of preparation. Our poor president and vice president, treasurer, and other devoted members put alot into the presentations, food lists, etc. and decorating of their homes to make these meetings so dedicated to Barbie. At each meeting we have a raffle prize we donate a dollar to- someone donates the raffle prize. So I guess it is just we each contribute alot to make each meeting which is every two months so we have alot of time to prepare. The next meeting will of course be Christmas and that is just a get together.
If you attend the conventions, you have probably shopped in Debbie's room or met some of the ladies at conventions. Just be on the lookout for them. Alot of times they sometimes donate a gift to convention now, from the Virginia Fashion Doll club. We have some hard core members, like Leslie Greenberg, and our club president, Debbie Breeden, who always go. Leslie loves to dress up with Thomas at the runway, so if you've attended I know you've seen her!
