Visit to the museum in Williamsburg..& Va fashion doll club meetup!

Well...on Sunday I & Gracie, Dixie the bloggin chick, and Minuette Mouse all piled in with our bag of new 1/6 scale divas (or as Dixie calls them- with a humph! those partyin' dolls in the dollhouse) and took off for Williamsburg. I was designated fruit platter for the cookout the club was having, but the dolls and I had a stop to make...at the Ab by Aldrich Rockefeller Museum to see the Tasha Tudor dollhouse-- the one in myprofile pic here on the blog...we get there....and there were plenty of strange looking items, but...no..dollhouse!There wereloads of paintings of 18th century people...
Ok, some of these were famouse, Queen Henrietta Maria of England consort to Charles the 1st of England..there were also mannequins wearing what looked like some of their clothes, at least to Gracie's viewpoint..

Gracie looked a bit small next to these ladies...but no...dollhouse!
We did however, find a carousel in the museum...THAT made up somewhat for no..dollhouses...

This was our favorite one, since it reminded us of Junebug, & Sweetie Pie at home. Maybewithout the fish and the saddle...
Still, carousels of antique animals are great, but no dollhouses....sigh..

Minuette was not happy either...posing in front of 'pond' of old duck decoy art..
So from there we left teh museum & headed over to the Barbie club meetup- er, fashion doll club of va...meetup. The vinyl vixens were getting squirrely in their bag. We left with some souvenirs-- a red cloak like the ones worn in the 18th century for Gracie..and onto the club meetup!
The theme was where Amber & her dream guy Ken,were going on their honeymoon & you were supposed to make a scene of where they would go. Above is Sandra's theme, in Paris, and Jodie's dolls, again, In Paris...

Laurie's was originally outside, at the caribbean...

This was Debbie's scene, aswell in Paris! with Japan exclusive silkstone artist barbie paintng their portrait near the eiffel tower while they picniced!

As well as one member's Eve I think in Great Britian & Laurie's caribean scene at the koi pond (Laurie was our hostess) with herlittle sailboat. I didn't get all of the scene since they took it down, it began to rain.
Our prize winner was Sandra for her Paris restuarant scene- she had began building it at 5 am that morning! I thought it was cool- she used brick scrapbook paper, 1/2 in foamcore, and material for the sidewalk and the roof coverings. Anna was in chargeofr our program, she had just got back from convention- Barbie & the Rockers and had some oh so cool stuff!
Our  cookout was hot dogs & burgers, potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, fruit, chips, and it was fun! Though we had no dollhouses...we did have great fun!

Barbie in Red....

Yes, I did I did- I caved and went to Target this morning. With all the talk about the Barbie Basics paks- I had to, especially while looking at the new Barbie Target basics in red BLACK Label. She's stunning, and now I want another basics in red pak and another one like this- to keep in the box, and to play with. I got to see the Barbie Basics #10 in the black dress, and she is cute- so think I will also add her to my collection. I think this one is going to look great with my BBC Mad Men Roger STerling--she looks like she needs a Sugar Daddy!
Will have some pics next week- this Sunday is the Va. Fashion Doll club meeting- at one of the members' houses in Williamsburg, and I am so psyched. I will be taking photos of Minuette and my Dixie bloggin' chick who like to hang out in my purse, and of course the dolls!

The MOUSE is in the HOUSE!.....

Well, my MOUSE is in the House! Dollfactory Bobo 2nd edition has finally arrived! Sheis so adorable. I like the 1st edition as well, the newest one..hmm. She is very moveable and has such a melancholy look on her little face...sort of like Ellowyne. She already has a name, until the rest of the Mouse family arrives..
Her name is Minuette de la Fromage...en francais translates to Minuette of the Cheese..lol.I am thinking of ordering a Senior Bobo for her father, to help run Mickey & Minnie diner...that I so desperately want to build. I have a thing for mice.!
Not having any clothing for her, I swiped a dress of a generic Big Lots Kelly doll. Minuette has ridden in my purse this weekend. Not sure that she likes it yet...but she does hang out with my tinies..who love her ears. Minuette will make a great Doormouse for the Alice In Wonderland diorama I want to do in 1:6 scale, just have to find some red heart material for her outfit, and a hatpin, and also maybe create an eyeball for her side trophy. Oh what a frabjous day!
Speaking of the Alice diorama, I found by accident in the local walmart the new Moxie girls that have come out...and one was dressed like Alice! They also have Rapunzel, Snow WHite, and other storybook charachters. I loved her outfit, and she would work as a temporary Alice because her head is a little large. But wacky is what I'm going for in my diorama, so if not, her outfit might look great on Pillow Talk Poppy.
All fornow, more pics coming later with Minuette and the rest of the dollies!

Brunch with the Barbie club...& De-boxing of the Red Queen!

I recently posted about some housecleaning in the dollhouse, and have just got around to cleaning up the pics of Brunch with the Barbie club members. One of our members, Marcia is moving to another state, but will still be participating in club when she visits Va. That is one of the great things about the Va. Fashion Doll Collector club- we may move away, or leave, but we always, always come back for friends and dolls!
Here are some pics of the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse (aka Maison de la Royale) before the club members visited the shop for picture playtime, and the de-boxing of Karon of Va's (Karon Monatague) (on doll Divas) IFDC Red Queen.

But first we gathered at Feathernesters, the tearoom & boutique of my friends Tony & Mark next door. It is a simply marvelous brunch on Sunday- brunch is buffet style, and omelets are special made, and included in the cost if you wish an omelet! Served with either orange juice, iced tea or raspberry tea, coffee, the brunch was marvelous- ham, bacon, sausage,  casserole of egg, sausage and cheese, fruit, tea cakes, homemade donuts- and more. Yum! While there, after brunch we also had brought Dolls! (like our President Debbie said- Duh! bring your dolls for the table!LOL!) boy we had fun, especially with the folks watching the ladies in pink put on the Feathernester hats for a photo op. Our president, Debbie, is a photographer, which means we always have good photos of us- and great photos of the dolls in our newsletter...

The dolls were holding little banners wishing Marcia a safe trip and good wishes. After we had had brunch, doll photo fun, and hat fun at Feathernesters' it was time for the fun of de-boxing a gorgeous doll!Karon Montague, (my Luchia and Agnes are wearing little chemises bought from her at a club meeting) generously brought along some boxed Jason Wu ladies- the Red Queen and gasp! (my holy grail of dolls- Queen V from Dollybird)  We opted for Red Queen (who I really really need......lol)

here are the pics of the De-boxing...Karon is fuzzy because she was moving too much....

Mini Gene is standing on our doll table in the shop, next to a walnut 1:6 Bespaq French table. She is truly exquisite...sigh.

Great fun was had all around, I had never had so much fun! More later on the one sixth scale dollhouse, as I just had more Mickey & Minnie Rement arrive! More progress on the Mickey Mouse diner/sweet shop later in another post!
