Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

I have not posted in a very long while, but I am hoping that will change soon as I am attempting- to organize the dolls and their clothing and get together some new color coordinated backdrops for the vintage dolls for photodrops. I have taken something of a hiatus from purchasing new dolls except for the Poppys on pre-order- (Curiouser and Curiouser Alice Poppy Parker should be arriving soon!) and so should Stand Up and Cheer! Poppy when we get the payment notice in the upcoming months.

Here are some photos from the archives!

Happy- late- Mother's Day...

I am late- late - late!! with Mother's Day pics. Sorry about that. Life gets in the way when you are enjoying yourself.

So here are some photos from this year and last year of the dolls. I did a new photoshoot this year digging out dolls to go with my Vixen Integrity Gene. That tired look in her eyes captured a young mother in the late 1940's early 1950's and looking at vintage photos of young mothers - I really don't know how my grandmother and great-grandmother did it without air conditioning and microwaves.

I used Gene and the furniture is Bespaq. The baby is a vintage childhood Mattel Rosebud baby doll- they used to come in long Victorian christening gowns with caps and also sometimes Victorian cribs and other furniture pieces in plastic. I know I have the whole set packed away in my stuff somewhere. I found this little one by chance in my bins of dolls I was sorting through (prevented me from yet another duplicate purchase on ebay!! lol!) The Madame Alexander Wendy is from my collection.  The toys are bits and bobs I had on hand.

Here this photo is from last year's mother's day. I purchased the Bombay clock at an estate sale for $5 and it really works, I have two of these clocks and I adore them. The plants are various plants you can find at Michael's; the chair is Bespaq, designed by me - manfactured by Bespaq. The crib, doll, is Barbie babysitting Crissy? I think and came with the crib and the rocking horse. I have loved this doll and kept her in her stock outfit. Her hair is gorgeous.

I hope everyone had a relaxing Mother's Day!

Update on the Doll Room! - More progress has been made- more dolls have been found and put on shelves. The dressing has begun. I will have some more photos of the shelves and the room and the dollhouse hopefully by the weekend.

Catching Up, Belated Happy Mother's day..

I am catching up on this post which I had planned to do yesterday but completely forgot about, even when I had taken the photos early yesterday morning. I am afraid Mother's day this year reminded me more of the fact that my mom passed last year, (among other unhappy associations from the past with my own personal experiences with my stepdaughter) so I am not a fan of 'Mother's day' per se. In essence, I believe every day is a day you should honor your mother as well as your father, since their time here is fleeting- and many of us seem to forget that and think our job is done taking Mom to Shoney's or Cracker Barrel. My own unusual position as a 'stepmom' has its own story of ups and downs, extreme moments of pride and love, as well as deep hurt & pain- and others most currently where walking away is the best decision you can make. From my own personal viewpoint, it takes more to being a mom than giving birth.

Here are the belated photos- of my Prince William and Princess Kate holding Prince George. I had a toddler with brown hair that looked like Prince George and was all set to make him his little white onesie with the sailboats on it like this photo of Kate & George-

However, I had to use sunshine family Steven with blonde hair in his diaper for George. That yellow dress from one of the Seasonal ITBE dolls is perfect on Kate. She had her head transplanted to a Dynamite Girls body.

I am really pleased with how the photos resemble them. Now I will be on the hunt for a baby of suitable size with brown hair for Kate and WIlliam .
