Vanessa Loves June Weddings... World Doll Day!

Today's celebration of brides is an old one from the archives of Vanessa with my own bridal tiara, leaning up against a Bespaq chair with roses in her bouquet and on her dress, for a dreamy photo moment. I remember this is when I really began to experiment with props and larger items with dolls to create 'moments' and make my photography with fashion dolls 'pop' after reading a book by Pat Henry on lighting, fixtures, exposure on cameras, etc. Now I let my camera phone do everything, lol.
Today is World Doll Day, so share pics of your dolls and have fun.

Happy World Doll Day!

Happy World Doll Day!

I have been absent lately, but did want to get some doll photos in of some dolls and teddy bears that I don't usually share here.

These are some special favorites you don't usually see together, some special bears with my Madame Alexander vintage Cissy doll, one of my American Girl dolls Rebecca, Annabelle and Marie Terese, and two Boyd's Bears, a 25th anniversary bear Sterling and a Friendship Key bear. Here is Rebecca with just the bears.

I think bears and dolls have a timeless, childlike quality that never leaves us, no matter what your age. I have begun picking up a quantity of fine quality bears and bunnies. I have had these two bears for sale in my Ebay store but will be sad to see them leave me.

I also took some photos of the 'crew' and redressed some of them. Starlight Poppy is redressed in vintage Barbie, and one of my Barbies, to my delight, was already dressed in patriotic gear to match Aiden. I re-dressed Pillow Talk in a cute Snoopy outfit I had purchased ions ago but never put it on her until today.

I finally got pics of this little guy! One of the newest Chelsea boys, the blonde headed one. I had purchased him about two weeks ago but never got around to taking pics of him or Skipper's new bicycle from hobby Lobby.

Also new-  Storybook Kelly Red Riding hood

I already have the Raggedy Ann and Andy that were my mother's, which I intend to keep in the box. I will probably de-box this one. I also wish to collect the others and de-box them as well. My intentions are to create a little storybook dollhouse for them all to reside in. I really want the Goldilocks and the bear one next. I have really fallen for the older Kelly dolls, especially for the storybook ones and want to create a little dollhouse for them.
This one is really cute, she even has apples in her basket!

And last but not least- it wouldn't be world doll day without Barbie and Ken!

Happy World Doll Day!

Happy World Doll Day!

History of World Doll Day:

The First World Doll Day was established on June 14th, 1986 with a letter by Mildred Seeley. It was created to spread the universal message of happiness and love.

So today I did my part and went out, and saved some dolls at a local auction that had great stuff to bid on. A few of those items were some table lots with tons of dolls and doll items, 2 table lots which I won! And some doll items which I lost- 😠 and then a bunch of other items which I was pleased to win- which had nothing to do with dolls.

I had planned to have some wonderful beautiful picturesque photos of dollies having tea and doing dolly things, but maybe I should just show you the dollies I 'saved' in honor of World Doll Day. Some will stay, some will go. Here are a couple of the table lots.

The Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls were damaged, their hands were broken. They are porcelain dolls and I didn't notice this until I got them into the car. The Barbies are Christmas dolls and their boxes are damaged but the GOLD is the Barbie Ferrari that comes with its BOX- it is sitting on its original box. That has been hard to find for me and I have been looking for items with their original box without paying a fortune. I purchased the whole table for what I what would have paid for one item on ebay. I am not particularly excited about the generic grandma porcelain dolls but I may be able to move some of them in my ebay store or mercari. The table cost me very little. The other table lot gave me some Christmas barbies as well so I scooped up some great products. There are some great dolls that are really beautiful actually - as well as some angel toppers in this lot.

So I leave you with some photos of my not seen so often Vintage Cissy having Tea...

It's National World Doll Day!

Did you know that June 11, 2016 is the 30th anniversary of World Doll Day?

Here is the link to when it started. Click World Doll Day

I decided to use a photo from the archives, of the Poppies playing with the Barbie dreamhouse with the Kellys, as National World Doll Day has a
logo with a doll, holding a doll. Mildred Seely began World Doll day by
giving a doll, sharing dolls, with a letter on June 14, 1986. It was meant to spread a universal message of happiness and love.

So share your story of dolls, or pics of dolls, and get your happy on!
