Lucky Thrift Store Find- Vintage Ginny doll Bedroom furniture!

I went browsing for dolly stuff yesterday in a new thrift store I haven't been able to visit - here in Virginia- and it is FABULOUS! The amount of doll items in there- and high end china, crystal, glass, as well as books and clothing and beautiful furniture!! Squee- I have a new honey hole for craft items as well- there was a hole section for ribbon and craft items!! As well as Christmas!! The doll section had tons of porcelain dolls - alot of Ashton Drake baby dolls, but all in very good condition, evidently donated from estates of the type of collector who collected porcelain infant dolls in layettes with cribs or sitting in antique rocking chairs, etc. When I was a dealer I ran into this type of elderly collector alot- the families know nothing about dolls and don't want them. I call these types of dolls 'decorator dolls of yesteryear' as the ladies are collecting the types of dolls they always wanted but couldn't afford- since they are reproductions of antique porcelains. This is how I found the large plastic bag full of Ginny doll furniture for $10- which I grabbed. I noticed one piece was broken but I did not look at it closely. 

When I got it home and was able to look at it closely, most if not all of the pieces are damaged. The wardrobe unit has two doors that will not stay on their hinges and will need to be repaired- but this is the most intact piece except for the tiny boudoir table. The little boudoir table has a leg missing and it's back has come off. The bed has all of its bedding and pillow with the elastic strings but is missing a leg. Also included was another coverlet marked Mattel 1987 which I researched and it turned out that was a Barbie Roses bed set coverlet from 1987. Here is my loot from yesterday-

Shown above is the Barbie coverlet. Now of course, I need the Barbie bed and the rest of the items to go with it, as well as the sweet vintage 1987 Barbie that goes with it!

There was also two Ginny enelopes paper ephemera that came with all of this-

The envelopes seem to be something you could join the Vogue Ginny doll club back in the day, just like the Barbie doll club. The 80's and the 90's were big on mail in order doll clubs back in the day. 

I may use some of this furniture for the children's room in the 1:6 scale dollhouse, since it is so cute. It may have to be repaired. It will work with Skipper, Stacey and smaller dolls like Chelsea and Kelly. 

 

New Vintage Doll- Eric, Tuesday Taylor's Boyfriend

Ever since I acquired my two swivel scalp Tuesday Taylors, as well as her little sister Dodi, I have been on the hunt for Tuesday's elusive boyfriend- Eric. The prices for this huge hulk of a beach boy vinyl boyfriend are all over the place- on Ebay, Mercari, Poshmark, especially if you are looking for a doll with no flaws and a deal. 

I found my Eric on Ebay with his turtleneck and pants but no shoes, in good condition with a great shipping price, and began watching him and others. I have found prices from $99+ all the way down to $30 but usually he is in bad condition for just parts. When I was watching this one he was priced at $$35 or $39 and I was considering pulling the trigger- when all of a sudden my Ebay notifications said grab the deal! He was $29.99! I didn't need a second push to pull the trigger on that score! 

Larger and taller than Eric- this version is the second edition of Tuesday's boyfriend- the first edition came in a muscle type , body builder red swimsuit with a towel- a true beach boy. His outfit is a true 1970's outfit- I remember this look as I grew up in the 70's and many young men had this look. The turtleneck outlined a physically fit man's muscles and body. He did not come with shoes so I am not on the hunt for shoes for him. 

Here he is with Tuesday Taylor- I could only find one of my Tuesday dolls- and Dodi, her little sister. I am still looking for clothing for Dodi as well, so she is wearing a homemade fashion made by me. If you are a collector, be aware they can wear some shoes for Pepper or Skipper, but it is hit or miss. Tuesday can wear Cher's shoes. 

 

Happy Holidays Barbie 2017

Happy Holidays Barbie 2017 arrived yesterday and I have a story about this doll. I preiously owned several versions of her- as I purchased her in late December 2017 or early January 2018 when she went on sale for $9.00! and I had all the ethnic versions- caucasion, AA, and Hispanic. At the time, I did not collect Holiday Barbies and was not on a quest to collect all of the Christmas dolls like I am now. I was an ebay seller-(and still am, but not as serious about it as I was then.) This seemed like a great oppurtunity to snap up some dolls cheap to stock my store or do some trades in the future. I would say I purchased four or five of them at the time, eventually selling them all. Now I wish I had kept at least one. lol. 

So here she is, another great deal on Mercari. She came with her ornament star but did not come with her stand. 

 

Happy Holidays Barbie 2022

I have some new dolls arriving- and this one I ordered a couple of weeks ago and just arrived yesterday. Actually, the seller on Mercari marked it shipped and did not drop it off until a week later, giving false information about shipping it. I think they wanted me to cancel the order but I wasn't going to, as they had sent out a really great deal- I got Happy Holidays Barbie 2022 mint in the box with some scuff marks on the box or dents, for $18.37 plus shipping which came out to about $26 when it was all said and done- less than the original cost of the doll at $39.99! So I was willing to be patient and she finally dropped it off a week later. Here she is in that beautiful poinsettia dress.

I remember watching YouTube videos of influencers who purchased this doll in 2022 and raed about her dress. I am really sorry now I did not get her. She is really stunning. 

I did some dark evening Christmas light scenes with Happy Holidays Barbie 2011, my last recent purchase. I am making headway on my Barbie collection purchases and should be able to close the collection down. I was really pleased with this last photo. Today I have 2017 Happy Holidays Barbie coming, so I will do a blog post on her when I receive her delivery. Enjoy!
