Simply Gene Blue Bathing Suit

I recently received Ashton-Drake new in the box, 'Simply Gene' in the blue bathing suit yesterday. I found her on Poshmark in her original box with all of her paperwork, stand, etc. for a reasonable price. I already have Simply Gene in the pink bathing suit, I am attempting to acquire the rest of them- the yellow , lavender and black bathing beauties. These were some of the most wonderful dolls Mel Odom designed.

While looking at the box, you get an idea of how carefully someone really took care of their dolls. This box even had the original sticker that sealed the tissue paper, and the original sticker from the original dealer the owner had purchased the doll from! Her paperwork had never been removed and neither had the doll been untied from her strings in the box! Such a treasure!

Here she is above with her sister redhead Gene, in their matching bathing suits.

I love how they look so well with Trent in his tuxedo- this is a photo op I have wanted to do for a while now. May evolve more with more props later on. Enjoy!

Gene Marshall and Trent- I Do..

These photos of Gene and Trent in wedding attire are from the archives--I used a wedding gown from a damaged porcelain doll and tried it on Stardust Gene and it created the effect I wanted. I have always wanted to do a wedding party for my Gene dolls, with a teen-age doll like a Marley Wentworth as a bridesmaid, and some Madame Alexander Wendy dolls as Flower Girls and a ring bearer. Once I get my doll room moved and my 1:4 scale dollhouse set up for my Gene and Tonner dolls, I may just stage a wedding party in the 1:4 scale mansion I am planning, complete with wedding in progress in the parlor, reception, food, kitchen staff, maids, etc. There will be alot of sewing and doll collecting to do! LOL. And food crafting! I have so much large scale Bespaq and I have always wanted a large scale dollhouse to display it all, but there is no room in my current dollroom. Hoping to change that in the upcoming year or so.

Enjoy the photos, more to come in the month of June, celebrating brides.

Countdown to Christmas- Day Twenty-Four- Christmas Eve!

Countdown to Christmas- Day Twenty-Four- Christmas Eve!

Today's featured photo is new- Madra Lord, is opening her Christmas cards at her elegant Bespaq desk. This is a new photo I took that I hope to use for next year's card. I do my Christmas cards a year in advance and if I get  a new idea, well I have back up photos.

Stay tuned for more Countdown to Christmas-
and have a very Merry Christmas!

Countdown to Christmas- Day Twenty-Two!

Countdown to Christmas - Day Twenty-Two! Today's featured past Christmas card I did for the Studio Commissary was last year, 2023, and I prepared for this starting in October/November. I had decided to use an idea I got from the Barbie movie and wanted Gene's outfit to be in soft pink, and use the Gene Christmas tree which had the soft pink ornaments. It took me a while to gather all of the required elements I needed to stage this scene. The central part of the scene was the 1:3 scale Bespaq piano- the only one I had left from my stock when I used to be a dealer and is part of my personal collection. This one was broken and one which I repaired. It was so badly broken it would have been possible to see the repairs in the legs so I decided to repaint it a glossy black and it turned out fabulous for what I wanted in my photos. I also used lit candles and had the tree lit. Trent of course, is playing the piano and illusion is that they are in a grand ballroom or music room on Christmas Eve/ Christmas Day.

Countdown to Christmas- Day Twenty-One!

Countdown to Christmas- Day Twenty-One! Today's featured past Christmas card is one I did a few years ago for the Studio Commissary. It features Gene ice skating on a 'pond' surrounded by lit up trees. This was a fun scene to create, and when I had just joined the board and was participating in my second year of the Christmas card exchange. The doll I treasure because I won her in one of the Christmas game parties.

I still have this fun Gene doll in my collection. I remember the idea I had for this card and still treasure it today. I thought of using a mirror, but did not have one, so I went down to my local Dollar General, and lo and behold- they had a $5 perfume mirrored stand with feet ! I remember squealing I was so excited it was the right size and price! I also bought that bag of rolled 'snow' blanket and assembled my trees and those plants - and voila! my card was created. Getting Gene to stand was a little harder. This goes to show you don't have to spend a lot to create great dioramas. This little mirror diorama has been used time and time again.

Countdown to Christmas- Day Nineteen!

Countdown to Christmas- Day Nineteen! Today's featured post is last years' Christmas card I created for The Studio Commissary  Message board for Gene Marshall dolls. I participate in this Christmas card exchange each year as do 30-40 other people and it is alot of fun! I also participate in the Doll Divas Message Board card exchange too. Each year I participate in these card exchanges with custom created doll themed Christmas cards using my dolls and props, and I save the cards I receive in albums year to year. I enjoy looking at the cards I save year to year, as Christmas cards are becoming a lost thing of the past, with technology taking over our lives; and I treasure the cards people take the time to create with their dolls. Here is the one I created for the Studio Commissary this year.

This card was meant to convey an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas.

Gene Marshall & Friends and the Wearin' of the Green!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It is 2 days early, but I am posting these pics early as I will have more photos of various dolls on St. Patrick's day on Sunday. I did this shoot and I wanted the pics to stand alone. It was an off-the-cuff kind of thing I put together, and was rather pleased with it- as it is unusual for me to be able to pull all of my props together at one time without having to pull my doll room apart! lol!

The chair and table; Bespaq, the rug, a dollhouse miniature carpet;
the tea set, is a 1:12 scale dollhouse miniature teaset that I won at my doll club meeting and has tiny shamrocks on it- it is too small for this diorama but I could not resist using it in this scene; the dog I think came in a bag of Gene goodies I purchased at a doll show, the green Irish hats were purchased years ago at the Dollar Tree , the cake and cake slice I made, and the portrait was from the Visitor Souvenir shop in Williamsburg, VA. The teddy bear is a miniature teddy bear for the month of March you purchase at miniature shows, in plastic cubes, for the month of March.
I made the two outfits on the Simply Gene- the skirt and blouse, and on Vee, the sheath dress. I was hoping that I could have more green outfits, but will have to work on more of them from the patterns I have.
More to come!
