Vintage Heart Family Dolls

I received a new purchase recently, a lot of vintage 1980's Heart Family 'Mom' dolls, that I purchased off of Mercari. Heart Family dolls were dolls made by Mattel in the late 1980s and came with two babies, a mother and father and there were also a set of grandparents available.  I have been able to figure out my lot contains Deluxe Heart Family mom ( in the pink Victorian dress), Christmas Heart Family mom-in the striped short dress in the middle, and Surprise Party Heart Family Mom- in the Yellow dress on the right. Their hair is in amazing silky condition and so are their bodies, their legs click at the knee and the doll in the middle still has her little ring in the shape of a star on her ring finger. They are missing their shoes, but that can be fixed. Their faces remind me a little of PJ and Midge.

I am hoping to get the dads and the babies that go with these dolls, as I learn more about these sets. They are really adorable dolls and I wish I had known more about them. Really glad to add them to my collection.

Wonder Woman Paradise Island Gift Set

This set arrived yesterday and is really remarkable. I think Mattel is finally getting it- if we pay $125 for something, they should be putting themselves over the top with packaging, bodies, just like their competitors Integrity toys and Hot Toys do.

This set came boxed in an exterior box, then in two sleeves with Steve Trevor and Gal Gadot's faces on the back of the sleeves. The sleeves look like book ends when you take them off of the gift set which has a backdrop inside of the island! I have not de-boxed my set yet because I am so in love with it and may buy another set to debox.
Here are some photos .

One sleeve has Wonder Woman's face, and the other sleeve has Steve Trevor's face. They are large enough when apart to put comic books, I'm assuming, or files in. Very neat.

The front of the huge box this was all in. It was made of thin cardboard in a golden color.

The back of the box. It would be very useful to keep if you are a Wonder Woman fan. I am just enthralled with it.

By the way, I saw the movie on Friday and it was fantastic. I highly recommend you see it. Gal Gadot is a fabulous actress and it raises the bar on this comic book hero. I liked Linda Carter in the 70's but it really explains Wonder Woman's originals more.

Enjoy!

Barbie Collector's 50th Anniversary Star Trek dolls

Barbie Collector is now doing its 50th anniversary celebration of Spock, Kirk and Uhura as well. Their face molds are uncanny, especially Lt. Uhura, she is just amazing.

My reward is going to expire soon, so I went ahead and ordered Spock yesterday. I will have another reward starting July 1st, so hopefully I can get Kirk and Uhura together in one go. I would love to get all three together, but right now dolly funds are tight and I really shouldn't be ordering anything but I don't want to take the chance of losing them altogether.

These dolls are on pre-order, so when you get your notice they are 'backordered' until July 7th. Sigh get with it Mattel. They are slowly learning.

At the San Diego Comic Con, they will unveil the famous Green Girl from the Star Trek Pilot Episode 'The Cage'

Here are the photos-

She is available for pre-order from MattyCollector  however, the catch is you must pick up the order IN PERSON at ComicCon. SOB.

She is so gosh darn AWESOME. This one will be going for big bucks on ebay. Halfway tempted to beg Integrity to take a Colorinfusion doll and do this to her.

Live Long and Prosper!

Review of Disney & Mattel Lady Tremaine dolls from Cinderalla movie...

Recently I ordered the Disney version of Lady Tremaine from the Disney website when they had deep discounted prices about a week or two ago, and I was finally able to receive her yesterday.

Here she is side by side with Mattel's version of Lady Tremaine.

The Disney box was a little less elaborate but had this cool pop out butterfly on the front that kind of lifts. You may want to keep this for some prop art in your dioramas for a shop window. She was also a little easier to get out of the box than the Mattel version.

The Disney version of course, has that wonderful traveling Victorian/Edwardian gown where she steps out of the coach with Cinderalla's father and her two daughters. This gown has a deep black velveteen straight aline skirt underneath the emerald green overskirt, which is lined with tissue paper to keep it from staining the doll's legs. She also has plastic Victorian high heeled boots on trimmed in the same green. Her legs are straight and seem to be hollow like the Mattel version, but I think they might bend. Her underskirt is stuffed with tissue to make it puff out too. The hat is heavy resin/plastic with a comb but may have a little difficulty sticking into her hair but stays.

The Disney doll's head is bigger than the Mattel version and is more pink/flesh toned than the Mattel version- though I have to admit the Mattel version seems more Cate Blanchett and true to life. But I do like both. I just hate those plastic gloves on the Mattel version.

Here are some photos of the Disney Lady Tremaine of her in the box-

With the discounts, I was able to purchase her for 9.99 plus shipping for 16.79 altogether from the Disney website.  I am not sure if she is still available. I purchased three or four of the Mattel Lady Tremaines as they were my favorites and I wanted to transplant a couple of them onto Fashion Royalty bodies and do a Queen Elizabeth l doll, from the Cate Blanchett movie  'Elizabeth'  which I have in my dvd collection. I have a book by Sir Roy Strong on Queen Elizabeth l's gowns and portraits and have been deciding which one I would like to replicate. I have the doll and body, just need to decide now which fabrics and how to do her hair, which is the hardest part, and jewelry findings, and so on. I also want to keep one in the box too, one out of the box for display/play in my ballroom scenes as I do like her as she is too.

I also have the Fairy Godmother and Cinderalla. I have wanted to get multiples of these two dolls as well, for customs. Lily James I have wanted to do a Downtown Abbey doll in the 20's costume , and I have wanted to do a Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter too. I really love my fantasy dolls alot.

The only fault I could find wrong with her is her head size, it is a little large, but that was it, and the body of course is not articulated. All in all the outfit is very nicely made.
I hope in the future to get some reviews of Cinderalla and the Fairy Godmother up here soon. ~Lisa

Divergent Tris on sale at Target!

Some of my dolly friends were bemoaning the fact, unbeknownst to me, that they had not been able to get Divergent Tris, on sale at their local Target. I was amazed as I didn't even know this doll had been put on sale, or to put it more bluntly, on CLEARANCE. $7.48!!!!

So I went Tris hunting.....

She is so gorgeous and so new...this doll is still going for 24.99 on Barbiecollector.com!  I thought, why stop with just one.

In for one, in for three....

LOL....

I also picked up some of those cute little pack fashions. Target is selling them for 2.99 but they are far cheaper at Walmart. Even the packaged ones that come with shoes, 2 outfits, and a purse are 7.94 where Target sells them for 9.99. Target is doing specials on all their dolls as they are hauling in the new dolly items like those hideous Bratz dolls. Hopefully one of these Tris dolls can be rebodied either on a Poppy body or another Divergent body, there is a sale on the other Divergent jointed dolls there, and even though it isn't a body match I would rather put her on a Mattel pivatol body than waste a good Poppy body. Have to see how much I like her!

Queen of the Dark Forest review..

Queen of the Dark Forest has arrived and she is a very stunning doll! Unlike her predecessor, Lady of the White Woods, I immediately de-boxed her. I set up a little forest dio for her in this shoot. Warning- she is a hard doll to shoot because of the darkness of her costume, she gets alot of glare because of her skin tone and the fabric has a fake dragon skin gloss/sheen to it. So it does reflect a bit and that head dress/crown and neckpiece also reflect light too. So you may need to get some shaders in there when working with her.

Here she is in still in the box. She comes like the others with a clear plastic piece so you can display her.

Her dress is done in a Anne Boleyn style with the furred sleeves, and underneath there is a plastic skirt around her model muse body to keep the dress from staining. The dress has snap closure!

very bad photo of her shoes, which are really remarkable.

*I am using a poppy parker stand, she has the cheapo plastic Mattel stand, which I hate. I did not take it out of the box, I do not use these stands as they do not help the doll stand very well. I like Integrity stands better.

Her crown, neckpiece and staff are made of molded plastic but the staff appears to be flimsy so be very careful with it, it bends too easily in my opinion.

Her arms bend at the elbow and her wrists bend, but her legs do not, same old same old- model muse legs, articulated arms. Mattel needs to start giving us a FULLY PIVATOL DOLL FOR $100!! That's my biggest problem with these $100 dolls. I don't care about the collector people who just want to display a mannequin- you need to get with the program if you haven't already arrived to the W club and don't know what you're missing in articulation and ability to pose. (ok rant on articulation over, LOL)

The outfit is extremely nice, and much more nicely done than Lady of the White Woods which I was afraid to take out of the box. Lady of the White Woods had better shoes. But now some more pics...

Queen of the Dark Forest on sale today at BarbieCollector.com!

This doll was just announced today, rather late in the day with free shipping- whoo hoo! when collectors have literally been begging to know when she would be available. (I know, I've been one of them.) Dark forest elf grabbed me, but didn't grab me last September/October because I had the Fashion Royalty convention to attend and couldn't spare the dough for a doll with a model muse body and no articulation even IF she was the goddess sculpt with elf ears! (I need a little more oomph! to spend three digits...lol)

The second doll, Lady of the White Woods, well, she blew me away with that sculpt, the skin tone, the makeup, the jewelry. I wasn't crazy about the poofy dress but I loved the hair and she did look out of this world. That's when I began to want Faraway Forest Elf but wasn't willing to pay secondary ebay prices.

Today I went in and ordered this little lady on Quick Shop and she is already backordered like her previous sister- until July 9th. Luckily I had saved my June reward, but didn't get free shipping. She will look stunning with my haunted dolls and Dracula. She's got a evil look about her like there's some dragons lurking about behind her, and some little sprites ....She will look awesome in some Halloween dioramas.

Happy ordering to those that are looking forward to this little lady!~Lisa

Elf on the Shelf couture....

My Cruz now has a new outfit thanks to Elf on the Shelf . Today I was in Target and ended up spending money, something I didn't want to do, but Target has so much in the way of diorama and doll candy I can't resist. I had seen Elf on the Shelf last year and didn't really pay attention. But it is a cute idea I am thinking of doing- the cuteness of the website has sucked me into Christmas-cuteness-sweet factor here.
It is a little short on his arms, but it might fit the Mattel boys better. It matches his ski hat I made him out of the leftover Christmas socks- I need more of these with the black, it is a really cool pattern. The elf on the shelf items come in either boy or girl and apparently you can dress your elf up. There is a cool bomber jacket that I am going to go back and get as well as a football jersey that I think my Santa might need to have too.

Johnny isn't impressed, lol. I might try the blouse on him if his arms are shorter.
While at Target I also found ONE Christmas Chelsea left at my Target.
She is very cute, I am not surprised that I can't find the rest of them- her little shoes are elf shoes!

While I was making Johnny's sweater, I also made my mini american girl Kirsten a little hat similar to the retired set.

All this elf on the shelf stuff has given me some ideas of how to add fun to the dioramas for Christmas! Elf on the shelf items can also be found at Hallmark, Barnes and Noble, Amazon and other places that carry it.
