Countdown to Christmas continues with Silkstone Saga. We are coming to an end to the Silkstones that I have documented in our countdown.
Our doll of the day today is Classic Camel Coat Silkstone Barbie
This was one of the first articulated Silkstones, and one versed with a little problems, as Barbie Collector originally posted her for $50, and for those that caught it, like me, snatched her up quickly and ordered her. Those that didn't , all of a sudden, found the price changed to $75. Mattel did a switch-a-roo on the price and that did not sit well with collectors who felt the original $50 price tag should have stayed.

*NOTE- UPDATE ON DOLLY COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS-
Since today is December 22nd, I will be doing one more Silkstone doll tomorrow and then two dolls that are 'holiday' dolls on December 24th and December 25th. I will probably continue my Dolly countdown until New Year's Day and have a little spin, maybe do some photos of dioramas, etc. to put a different spin on it. I haven't even begun to make a dent in my doll collection, so this will be fun. ~Lisa
Countdown to Christmas continues with another lovely Tweed Silkstone, Boucle Beauty . I could not find her anywhere on the Barbie Collector/MATTEL website in the Gallery photos archives, so forgive me for using an eBay image listing here. It took me the longest time to remember what her name was until I did a search for her on Ebay.
For some reason I am deeply enarmoured of Silkstones in tweed /Chanel type suits with the pearls and chains, and spectator pumps. Maybe it hearkens back to my father's mother, my paternal grandmother who used to dress like that when she worked downtown at the Beauru of Statistics. Both of my grandmothers were career women before they knew what that was. My paternal grandmother, Grace, dressed like this with gloves, hats, and suits, and little pumps with the chains across the instep, and matching purses. It is a timeless, classic look.

Countdown to Christmas continues with our Silkstone Saga . Day 20 continues with our doll today is... Fiorella Silkstone Barbie
This was a lovely, pale what I refer to as Japan skin tone but Mattel calls it something else. She is a lovely doll to redress and I was lucky to get her because she sold out quickly. I loved Robert Best's design of these dolls with the Italian influence. Right now I do not have her in her stock dress, as I did not want it to stain her body. I have her in a dress I made myself. She looks so much prettier in pink.

Countdown to Christmas continues with Day 19! Today's selection is
Boater Ensemble Silkstone Barbie a truly lovely doll and another one which I haven't undressed. I am a fan of spectator fashion and adore this doll.
That suit, the jewelry, and most of all , the little hat just is perfection. This doll ends up shopping in my LaBelle's boutique diorama alot. She just has that Ladies that Lunch look about her.
I hope you are enjoying the Countdown to Christmas, and I am photographing more dolls. I am considering the continuing the Countdown with the New Year, as I have so many dolls, and have even begun to scratch the surface of my collection!

One of my favorites. She is a stunner from the 50's with that classic chic black and white tweed with the umbrella, hatbox, hat with the veil, and tight cinched suit.
Countdown to Christmas continues with Silkstone Saga and our doll of the day today is.... Cocktail Dress Silkstone Barbie
She is quite the lovely and when she was debuted, sold out quickly. I adore her platinum hair.
The back of her cocktail dress has a Watteau style lace back that snaps off, so very 50's stylish, with a full lace skirt. It is a beautiful ensemble.

Mad Men Joan Holloway Silkstone Barbie I have all of these dolls, but finding them in the bins were tough. I really didn't know how many dolls I have/had until I began going through my dollroom and picking out which dolls I was going to photograph for this blogging adventure and planning it. To say I am a doll hoarder is putting it mildly, lol.
