I was experimenting with angles on the 1:6 scale crowd today- something I very rarely get to do, just play with the dolls, posing, and the camera. I used my brick wall/alley backdrop I made last summer when I customized Bucky, the $1 flavva doll. I got some unusual shots today and just liked to mix the over the top with the regular guy, so to speak. Lots of fun.
I am steadily cleaning out those plastic tubs! So I was really looking for props that need to move- and they will be listed on my Ebay Auctions

I had long ago purchased the high school musical doll at Target when he went on sale- and after seeing him on the skateboard, I don't want to let him go. Patrick Dempsey in the suit is dreamey as well, I did not know I had so many cool male dolls....The only thing I dislike about the high school musical kid is his hat is molded to his head.
Daria is wearing : dress- dressmaker couture, coat, From Bewitching Lucia, shoes, Agnes Von Weiss gift set, purse- playline Barbie and the black tote, from one of the Homme's , scarf Barbie Basics shoe pack.
I am hoping to go thru these dolls and make up a really cool scene , I've missed doing this!

What room to start on next? I have been so busy cleaning and sorting ...and cute gasp- SELLING some of my dolls and props- simply have too many! That I have sadly neglected the dollhouse, or dollhouses and my 1:6 scale divas. Been paying too much attention to the American Girls. So Bucky decided to finish Barbie's kitchen and starting working on the door . Kelly joined in and decided to help. Toolbox is an ornament I found at Bed Bath and Beyond 2 years ago on sale... Crossbuck door is from Houseworks, I sell them in my Ebay store Pumpkin Hill Studios. I think I am out of stock right now, let me know if you need them, I can always order them for you.
Onto the doll room, or closet, since it is so very small. The big girls have taken over other areas of the house. Here are some photos of the chaos, leftover from Christmas pictures & diorama setups.

As you can see, many dolls just laying about in stacks waiting to go into their perspective dioramas, so many ideas, so little time and space to build!! Hopefully, cleaning out the doll room will help me to re=arrange and regroup, after I get rid of more stuff!
Meanwhile, 'Grandma' Barbie is having some pre Valentine fun with Barbie , Skipper, Chelsea, Kelly and Tiny Bjd Dixie, as well as showing off her new dress I purchased at a doll show. HOpe to get her some more clothes, this seller sells nice clothing for the Grandma Barbie. Still trying to think of a name for her- possibly Barbara??lol

The dress is covered in pink roses, and looks like the sort of thing an older lady would wear. I put some quick items of Rement out to give that pink/red Thing going on for Valentine's day, as well as the two Valentine Chelsea's one from last year and one from this year. Dixie is wearing a Valentine Chelsea's dress and shoes, really cute this year.

I need to finish this room but am unsatisfied with the walls, they move too much. So am thinking that I need to make a more permanent roombox like I did for the SKipper bedroom-

I love how this room turned out and I didn't have to repaint the vintage Skipper beds, but kept the cute vintage look with the same mod colors coordinated so it looked like a Bedroom from the 70's, similar to what my room looked like, only it was done in pink.

There are so many adorable diorama props out, especially the new mini cooper for Ken! sigh, as the dolls move out- more might move in!

When I have spare time might be working on the kitchen first. Skipper's room needs some doors, so trolling ebay soon.

I found/saw this doll one day when checking a friend's pictures on Flicker, she has some cool diorama pics and thinks outside the box for her doll characters.

Known as Roville Dioramas, here is where I first saw the doll, who believe it or not, resembles a friend who passed away last year.

Roville Dioramas Flicker I plan to do a little repaint on him, and hope to build a roombox after I get things more settled this year. I guess my way of healing/coping with his passing. And I have been itching to build like nobody's business!

What's new in the 1:6 scale dollhouse......

I have not posted in a long while, but many dolls have left not only Pumpkin Hill, but the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse. To make room, I have had to sell many Silkstones, some Fashion Royalty ladies, and a few of the bjd's as well as some American Girl mini dolls, and other accessories and props. The stock room is full, and there is no room left for storage of dolls!

But I have also been busy trying my hand at customizing the large Scale Bespaq. I have currently on auction many pieces in 1:4 scale as well as 1:3 scale and now two adorable little 1:6 scale Bijou tables. One above is embellished with gold accents on its raised carvings, and the drawer pulls are decorated with handmade beaded tiny tassels !

Next up is my customized Harry Potter table. The table is a 1:6 scale Bespaq 'Bijou' tea table, that has two drawers embellished with tiny handbeaded tassels that remove from the drawer pulls. Alot of accessories go with this little table for your 12 inch Harry Potter or your witch or warlock figure. Both tables measure 5 inches high 3 1/2 inches wide. The Harry Potter tables comes with resin skull, crystal ball, 4 tiny map scrolls , books that open and close- 1 does not open at all, and a tiny brass key with braided/beaded tassel ring.

I have not been able to post much about the dollhouse, or do any pictures as I would like. I did attend my Barbie club meeting in the end of January, and still do not have pictures up- I am listing so many auctions with the goal to move as much as possible, as I need room badly- and there is a project in 1:6 scale that I am planning and already have in mind. I have a new 1:6 scale figure in mind for that project, and will take pics when the doll arrives! This project I have had in mind to do is a tribute to a friend and mentor that passed away last year, and will be my way of healing of sorts, since I miss his advice so much.

First up, The Showgirl and Toute de Suite. Both have their boxes, stands, etc. Toute de Suite was displayed here in the dollhouse, but Showgirl was only taken out of the box to look at, has never been displayed, kept stored in her box.

Also up, are my MSD sized Goodreau 'Dorothy' from the Wizard of Oz series with her Dorothy wig and glitter boots, as well as her custom made mohair wig I had for her.

Yes, more dolls are leaving the One Sixth Scale dollhouse. Last night I listed two of my Silkstones. I have enjoyed them but it's time for them to move on. Tweed Indeed, has her box, stand, everything but her purse and has never been undressed, just displayed in the dollhouse.
Highland Fling is nude, no box or stand. Both dolls were started off at $9.99 starting bid, since they are both incomplete with accessories &/or box/stand.

Other Barbies, one a custom I never completely finished, a bridal doll I worked on- her dress has been customized with the addition of a chiffon train and rhinestones scattered on her gown as well as a boil perm and rhinestone bracelet and ring. Another $9.99 bargain is Fashion model Muse Barbie in her pink & black striped zebra bikini, complete with jewelry and shoes, I used her for a few summer dioramas I had.

Last but not least, Leekeworld Event Doll 'Rainy' limited edition. She was purchased on pre-order last year between Feb. 16-March 20th, 2011. In fact, I think I got my pre order in just before the event closed for this little darling. Rainy, or April Mae, as I called her, is basic skin tone, and the wig is her event wig as shown in the Leekeworld pics. Factory faceup and body blushing, factory eyes, which are brown. She comes with her wig and her little dress I have for her.

From our dollhouse to yours, we hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and will have a Wonderful & Happy New Year!

I don't have any pictures of my divas in the One Sixth Scale dollhouse, but thought some pictures of the tinies and the mini American Girl dolls would be fun for everyone to see!

Two of the mini American Girl dolls are 25th anniversary ones- Julie and Felicity, in their holiday clothes. The other two are Emily and Kit, in their meet dresses. I am still trying to get around to ordering more of the 25th anniversary dolls, but haven't yet.

The tiny bjd's were excited about Christmas, but alas, with all the preparations for the family, I neglected the dollhouses until the last minute. The tree is one I did several years ago, and bring out of storage. I usually decorate ALL the dollhouses, but was very limited on time this year.

A 1:6 scale Christmas...

I have had to withdraw from the International Fashion Royalty jetset diva photo challenge- just WAY too much on my plate right now, and I'm trying to keep up! The holidays makes my calendar look insane crazy- which is why I created Crazy Christmas Deals! in my Ebay store Pumpkin Hill Studios . This hopefully will allow me to reclaim some of my house back and move alot of product!

But back to a 1:6 scale Christmas...Once again, every year, it is time for my special Christmas cards I send out. If you would like to receive one, let me know which one- and Email me to let me know which one you would like to receive.

Our first one is for the business, King William Miniatures, and it is entitled 'I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus'. I wanted to do something entirely different this year.

I also designed a personal Christmas card that I send out to our close friends and family. My husband & I do alot of volunteer fundraising for the Shriner's Children's Hospitals . My husband & I belong to Acca Temple and we participate in alot of the fundraisers, parades and events that raise money for the hospitals, which is an organization that is dear to I & my husband's heart. This card was designed in honor of that.

I created the tiny fez that says 'Acca' on it working from my husband's fez. Every year the ladies have a big toy drive, and I am currently gathering together toys for that. My husband Chris sometimes participates in the Christmas parades when work allows, as he rides a go-cart with his unit, which is the Motor Patrol. It is alot of fun, and really adds to the spirit of Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you enjoy my little diorama pic, and more pics of this scene are in my Flicker album, which scrolls across the top. I had a great deal of fun putting this one together, and used a variety of dolls- mini American Girl Emily, tiny bjds Felix Brownies, Sunshine Family grandparents- these two were my favorite dolls as a child, since Grandparent dolls were scarce back then- Holiday feast Barbie , Mad Men Pete Draper by Mattel, and Fashion Royalty Agnes Von Weiss, as well as Happy Family Grandma Barbie by Mattel. Foods are Rement, furniture table and chairs a set off of Ebay that I repainted- and the Highboys and tea table are Bespaq(available in my Ebay store & auctions HERE .

Challenges 7 & 8

I have been extremely busy, and was laggy this week on uploading or doing Challenge 7 on the Flicker group International Jetset Fashion Royalty group - I mean really busy so there was very little dolly time,. Challenge 7 was this-

I wasn't thrilled about this challenge, simply because I have been getting props together for the dolls' Christmas cards I do each year.,..so this was what I came up with. Cute little cheesecake, a little lame, but I did this on the fly.

Challenge 8- that was the best either. It was a 50's swimsuit type of theme, and what fiftie's swimsuits I had for the dolls were well packed away. so here is what I came up with for challenge 8-

Not the most stellar diorama. Felt bad about it, but I had so many other events and things to do on my plate this weekend, perfecting the diorama pics was the last thing on my list. I am just beginning to attach the 1:6 scale dollhouse to decorate for Christmas, and have a couple of 'fun' card scenes I am going to be working on, including one for Thanksgiving. I have done one fun type of scene for Thanksgiving, but wish it to be more in depth, so that is in the works as well.

NEWS- A new doll has arrived- a handcarved Hitty I won on Ebay. I have had just a little bit of time to stain and paint her. I would like to make Hitty a dress, but there again, time is a factor as well. So hope to have alot of dolly stuff to post by Thanksgiving, since the dollhouses as well as the real house is being decorated!

Still working on adding the wreaths to the shutters!

Challenge 6:Avant Guarde & Modern art

For the Flicker group on challenge 6 it was Avante Guarde and modern art....well, I'm not that into Avant Guarde..in fact it's about my least favorite thing as far as Haute Couture. I'm more of a classic look, you know, less is more. So I wasn't that excited about this challenge. So I hit on the idea of making Daria the central focus of the modern art display- you know how they do those live art shows with people standing, who are painted to look like sculpture and the like....so I did a re-take on the renassaince painting of Venus on the froth of the wave, stepping out of a pearl shell, with a bland background, her hair cascading like that in the medieval painting, with some white satin draped about her, and voila! Challenge 7 is for the golf course, which of course is all about fashion and nothing about golf or birdies....lol. So I may get a little creative with that one as well, and do something equally off the cuff...doesn't look like any of these folks know the difference between a birdie or a mulligan.
For the holidays and my Christmas cards I usually do- I have not as of yet done the 1:6 scale one- I have ordered a prop or two for a special one I am focusing on, so bear with me. I have a to do list for Thanksgiving and that includes getting the Christmas cards ready and ordered. More on the Christmas holidays in the dollhouse in upcoming posts...

Challenge 5: At the Opera...

Well, this is what I came up with for the Flicker groups' challenge 5, at the opera. I dislike intensely using photoshop unless I just don't have the props, and it takes more time than setting up the scene, in my honest opinion....Plus looking for the right pic as a background is a pain! Unlike most people, I don't really enjoy photoshopping pics of dolls. The little rails were made by me last year for a Christmas card scene I did with Santa, I decided to pull it out for a comical effect. Not bad I think for throwing it together- I have been pressed on time this week.

Challenge 4: Jungle print wear at the Annual Tea part at Villa Hanbury

Challenge four of the International Fashion Royalty Jet Set Diva flicker group was the annual tea at Villa Hanbury wearing animal prints. (Mind, I have no idea where alot of the photo challenges are set, but it is fun imagining myself or my doll there.) This challenge I was a little challenged- especially on animal print wear. I then remembered this lovely chaise in leopard I had, and went from there since Photobucket was being agreeable today...I also felt like Daria was being a little rebellious- or rather I was-- and I decided on a decidedly Humphrey Bogart approach to this whole animal prints tea theme...lol as you can see above. I don't blame Daria at all for looking bored...and the next challenge has just been posted, which phew! is a lot easier. Enjoy the photos!

Challenge 3:Shopping at St. Tropez

Challenge 3- Shopping in St. Tropez...for the International Fashion Royalty Jetset Diva on Flicker is what it is all about. Though I enjoyed the last challenge, I had more time on that day to play with photoflexer on photobucket , but none this week...so I used a corner of the One Sixth Scale dollhouse dining room/salon and came up wtih this. I opened my Target Barbie and used that fabulous sheath because Daria's earrings and gladiator heels were perfect for this scene...along with the hard to find Rement set on the table. I thought the setup more personal than pasting Daria into a flashy pic, and for me, whole lots quicker! More pics in my flicker album...

Challenge 2:Breakfast at Tiffany's...with a twist, s'il vous plait!

Challenge 2 on the JetSet International Divas group on Flicker- Breakfast at Tiffany's...remember the iconic scene with Holly GoLightly eating her bagel and coffee in her tiara, diamonds, and chic black evening dress? Yeah, I wear that too every morning for breakfast darling...lol . Challenge two was to add an 'a la twist' accessory for the models, along with their diamonds and black evening gown, only at Tiffany's at 6 rue de la Paix! I admit this one had me racking my brains. So since I was short on time and backdrops, I was desperate. I resorted to photoshop. I know...dioramas are my passion, but even I have limitations on with just a week to conceive, build, paint, glue, ...well you get the idea.

So I was feeling a little quirky with Daria, so this is what I came up with....

Daria is ...celebrating, rather early in the day, but hey, she's in front of Tiffany's, sitting on her Jag, with designer shopping bags to the max, her yorkie poo on the back of the hood, her purse ascew, and a bucket of champagne, and in the background? Well Tiffany's is giving away all those little delicious blue boxes tied with white ribbons, just giving away the diamonds I tell you. I guess I'd be like this little plastic diva and get toasted too....lol. Diamonds and Tiffany's, what more could a diva want?
It's a fun challenge, and really made me rack my brains ..I used a necklace set from a Metrodolls outfit I had for Gene, which just popped with Agnes in M Conerto's dress...the car is a remote control jag that is from the bratz line....only shorty barbie and my tiny bjd's wlll fit in it!
Have some more wonderful pics of Slipper with her new wigs and shoes that just arrived today- now I just have to find time to make her dress to go with the wigs, a la Marie Antoinette. More later- and enjoy the pics!

Daria meets her Prince in Monaco....

I took some pictures for a Flicker group contest recently, just for fun with my fashion dolls, and it has been fun. The group, International Jet Set diva fashion dolls is offering a prize, but since I am not so gifted with Photoshop like the other dolly collectors, I have to rely on my props. lol. The challenge was for the models to meet in Monaco for cocktails, and meet the Princes Andrea and Pierre, and party the night away. I hit on the idea of the Monaco throne room which I had seen pictures of, and tried to emulate a reasonable fact similar. The throne base is two placques, painted gold with a piece of red velvet cut for the top and also for the carpet. The black and white marble floor is a large placemat made of squares from Pier One. The chair and table are Bespaq, wine bucket, wine bottole, glasses are Rement. Mirrors are by my great friend, Jim Coates Miniatures on Ebay. I googled picturs of Prince Albert and Prince Rainier of Monaco and noticed their sash is red, white , red and not blue like Prince Charles' in England. The small charm is a charm sewn on so it would look like an order/.medal on the sash. Daria's dress is Dressmaker Details and shoes are by the Dolls' Cobbler.

Monaco Royale Vanessa....

Monaco Royale Vanessa from the W club arrived a few days ago, but haven't de-boxed her until today. This doll is exquisite, the draping and bead and sequin detailing is amazing on the gown, especially with the kick panel to the side. Her jewelry, I am envious for the first time of a doll who has more elegant jewelry than I! She also comes with interchangeable hands to hold the 'Bloody Mary' cocktail! Totally well worth the money. I try to keep my dolly budget under control, so with the W club dolls I do not always buy them...but this Vanessa reminds me a bit of the royal photographer Cecil Beaton from the early 50's & 60's who photographed the Queen and Princess Ann, and Princess Margaret in thos stylish, eau de soie evening gowns, with over the top heavy chic buns and high hair do's. Her look here is timeless and classic, and chic...

Plus- this doll poses quite well seated, which surprised me given the dress is supposed to be form fitting. The shoes are a little loose, but they work..I love the gold with this salmon color, very glitzy, very glamorous.

Tonner Harry Potter is in the house!

Ok, I gave in and ordered the new 12 inch Harry Potter by Robert Tonner when they had their sale with free shipping this past Friday -- I could not resist. The new smaller scales of the Harry Potter line is amazing, Dumbledore is about 16 inches high. I hope to add Hermoine and Ron as well as their house robes too. Harry is so adorable, they have really added so much detail in his shoes, socks, wand, and clothing! He has an extra hand that is interchangeable if you do not wish him to have his wand hand displayed. I spent some time making some little magical blank books, and have not yet finished their embellishment on the covers, more are coming with a Bespaq round table that will be filled to the brim with crystal ball, dragon eggs, potion bottles, spooky books, etc and all the Potter accessories of Hogwarts. Tonner has nailed this one! What a great little doll- and just in time for Halloween!

More photos of Daria again....I finally upacked this gown from Dressmaker Details I had purchased thru the W club's lottery when it came up for bid. It is gorgeous, I love the delicate beading and netting onit, but the shoes are SOO sucky. Clearly made for the Silkstone Barbie foot, not my extravagant Fashion Royalty divas.
Before I go into too much more- yes, that's a photo of Daria Smoking...my dolls aren't politically correct...lol....and yes, I made the cigarette with excessive smoke...it just looks like an old Cecil Beaton photo since that dress harkens back to that time.
Shoes were from Sylvia, a miniature artist under the name of the Dolls' Cobbler. Originally, she started out making doll shoes for dolls, such as antique Kestners, fashion dolls, etc. but then went smaller to dollhouse scale. Her booth at a miniature show is one of my favorite places and I cannot go past it without purchasing tiny shoes....I am a shoe fanatic in real life, and have boxes of Colin Stuart, Stuart Weitzmans, Peter Fox in my closet though I do not wear them often....miniature shoes are even more addicting because they do not take up room in MY closet but in the dollhouse closet.
I have been so busy this week that these are great photos for on the fly, Daria is gearing up to compete on the Flicker group International Fashion Royalty Jetset Diva as a jetset diva. Some of the prizes are so cool, I am hoping my photos can make the cut, and it is always fun to challenge yourself. This gown really compliments my Bespaq wingchair I designed, I am trying to think up a set for a more better photo since the lighting is so poor in the One Sixth Scale dollhouse, some of these photos are so grainy. Since receiving Daria some months ago- she was one of the W club dolls, I have not had much time to photograph her. Here at the One Sixth Scale dollhouse I have been somewhat going thru a few disasters, natural and unexpected, such as Hurricanes- we are still going thru the tropical storm depression 'Lee' and now Katia looks like she may hit as well. I have been ill since Thursday, and unable to go full throttle like I usually do each day, which is frustrating to my nature, since I am basically a work aholic.

My purpose in posting photos of Daria in my premiere design Red Dragon wingchair, designed by me & manufactured in conjunction with Pit Ginsburg's help of Bespaq International Corporation was twofold....the world lost Pit on September 4th. Pit Ginsburg was one of the most forward thinking people in the industry of dollhouse miniatures, and he will be missed. I worked with both he & his nephew who now runs the company, Shawn Flading, on the design and manufacture of my wingchairs- of which Red Dragon was the first. Most of the work was in choosing the proper chair to manufacture in 1:6 scale, as well as fabric suppliers and unique finishes. I have to say, without Pit's input and advice, the line of the six wingchairs would never have come about. Daria epitomizes the elegance of the line, and simplicity of East meets West that I was going for. I will take more updated photos of the other five chairs for the blog as I feel better, since I am supposed to be on bedrest.

More of my Flicker photos. As everyone knows, most of the furniture in the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse is the large scale Bespaq, manufactured in the 1990's, and no longer manufactured. As I gaze on the dollhouse, I remember my great friend and most of all, my mentor in the miniature world, and mourn his loss.

Waiting for Autumn and Halloween....

We are surviving the aftermath of Hurricane Irene...no real damage- the roof perhaps needs a few shingles, but everything else is intact. Just no power for several days, almost a week is the estimate. At night, it is quiet and we use candlelight to sit in the den. I was bored so I pulled out some items on hand to use to get some ideas for Autumn./fall or Halloween decor. I had pulled out last year's Martha Stewart Halloween magazine- I simply love her take on 'elegant' halloween, which is timeless in a way. I also pulled out my Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch- I have Dorothy from 1997, and willprobably do more photos if I have time to find the props. The table is a Bespaq victorian tea table, that was broken and I repaired it- painted black and decorated with spiderwebs. Now she just needs some spooky books, an hourglass, etc. I loved how she looked next to the fireplace mantel, the white kind of washes her out, but the checker board placemat is from Pier 1, and is made of some sort of shell , but looks like a 1:6 scale marble floor....

More updates on the dollhouse restorationi....

Haven't been doing too much lately with the dollhouse....other than finishing Kit's attic, that is when I last did anything, I have been so busy. The house is moved in to the display room and is on the dresser, where I can reach it easily. Today I started moving in the tinies, and seeing what furniture would go where. Most of the furniture is from Olde Shelby Cottage, which I sold to a customer as I didn't have room for the house at home. Some other items may have to go as well, since I do want to do another tiny shop for the dolls next to Minuette's sweet shop and also the 1:6 scale McDonald's diner for the diva dolls.
The tinies moved alot of items into the rooms that were finished- the windows haven't yet been put on this house, so right now I'm looking at placement

Minuette loved the shopping cart, just the thing for carrying the groceries and the mail home! Wren loved the regridgerator, (a Hallmark ornament that really lights up when you open the door) and Maizie loves sitting in the kitchen. April Mae was sitting on the steps and Dixie, well Dixie isn't happy because there is no place for her computer yet. The mini American Girl dolls have not yet moved in, (they spend alot of time in Skipper's bedroom diorama or the 1:6 scale Sindy kitchen) but once Kit's bedroom gets started, I imagine we will see more of them.

Barbie Basics hunk No. 15...

So I thought on this post I would finally post the pics of the Barbie Basics Model no. 15 I purchased about a week or two ago...and he is a hunk. He was destined to be hunked up some more with a re-paint, but my W club girls and the Silkies pounced upon him....lol they are love starved for nice looking plastic men...So I posted some fun pics of my Favorite Agnes Von Weiss (Concerto in M) as well as my Loungerie Silkstone #4? (I think- can't keep track...) and he looks really good with her. I myself haven't been rushing to the Target to buy out all of the Basics dolls, there are a couple from the first collection I really like, but can't bring myself to pay $19.99 for an ICK! Model Muse cheapo plastic body.

Grace Kelly to Catch a Thief...Deboxed.......

Well, she's here...arrived on Monday. Sometimes Mattel hits the mark, and then drops the ball. To Catch a Thief I was really excited about- I had seen the wardrobe and the movie, and this dress was a culture classic.
I knew I had a problem when I opened the shipping box and the doll's box was literally covered in popcorn fuzz. She was not wrapped in tissue like other dolls from Mattel. I had planned on keeping her box she came in for display and just taking her out for scenes and dollplay......after attempting to wipe the fuzz off the box, I immediately saw another problem- the dress is made of chiffon, and the edges are RAW,..yep, that's right. If you are deboxer, and like to play as I do, this dress has an unravel factor.
So onto the deboxing nightmare........a word of warning- don't get overexcited by New Doll arrival...use small scissors and be very careful when pulling threads out of this dress. She is sewn in extremely tightly. Considering they did not set the pointed edges of the gown, I do not understand how she's worth $34.95....but maybe the packaging is. I have shown pics here of my doll and the visible holes in the organza /chiffon panels on the darker blue. Underskirt is a cheap taffeta tube. Doll- Lovely lovely facemold, hair is lovely, but that Model Muse body. ick. Grace may receive a body swap --- I'm seriously contemplating this.

Just a word of warning...doll is lovely, but probably better not to debox. I am hoping for better things from the Silkstone Grace Kelly who hopefully will not be overpriced as this doll was.

Custom 1:6 scale Skateboard figure ...done!

I am really proud of the result of this figure. What started out as a well played with doll for a $1 from a yard sale goes to looking like this! I have felt my creativity stifled for a while now, due to alot of stress from last year, both in my professional business life, as well as in my personal life. Sometimes, negativity stifles or drowns us artists.........well, I'm back, and this figure proves it. lol. I really like him and am ready I think to do more. I don't know what I liked creating more- the doll or the backdrop! I was so psyched about this custom I submitted photos for the custom figure weekly contest at Cotswold Collectibles on Facebook which they do each week. I don't know if my figure has been added or put on their page yet, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm hoping my pics get on the page, if not, oh well, try again and have fun doing it!
I think I covered everything inmy last post on the tutorial of how I did it, etc. I waited for better lighting and it was such a difference from those previous ugly grainey pics I had...ugh. It was well worth a little patience to wait and get great pics. I would really love to try something cool with wire so it looks like I have caught him in motion...need more time for that, and setup.
I have been cleaning out the display room and there is no end to what I will find ....I have to make room for my other dollhouse I'm refurbishing, which is almost done. Time to move it to its spot. The One Sixth Scale dollhouse has a spot all its own, I needed to move some small shop scenes so this incoming dollhouse for the tiny bjd's would have its own spot off the floor. Right now what was formally the kitchen in the one sixth scale dollhouse is storage for extra 1:6 scale furniture.

...which needs a little more tweaking. I have always wanted to do a custom figure that walked on the 'wild side'...maybe not so elegant or fashionable, but more hip-hop, urbanite, a real bad boy with tattoos, cigarettes, and into extreme sports...this one is into skateboarding. From my last post, which was tame, you could see the basic figure was done...now he just needs his environment finished, which I worked on today. New Project: Custom Extreme Skateboarder..

Just a few quick pics of my 'Extreme' Skateboarder....these pictures are really not all that clear to the detail that went into this custom. With his 'shades' on you can't see his hoop earring in the right ear. Ever since finding the One Sixth scale Warrior message board I have been amazed at what people do with their customs....especially the dolls ,,oops, 'Action Figures' (ahem) from movies like Indiana Jones. One of my wants is a Sideshow or Hot Toys Indiana Jones, but I may end up making my own, instead of spending the $175+....lol.
My recipe for this custom was an old 'Flavva' doll purchased at a yard sale for $1 years ago, and who I used with my Fashion Model Barbies for a photo group shot long ago. He has languished with other dolls who are headed for the swap a body chop shop (no dolls were harmed in this customization.)The jeans, sneakers and shades are from Fashionista Ken fashion packs, and the skateboard is from Tek Dek? I think. I ripped the knees on the pants, rolled them up, and used jewelry findings for his earring. The tattos were done by me, as is the blushing or shading of his pectorial and abs. His hair was originally flocked , which gave him a rather goofy look, so I took fleece mohair and made him a cool, urbanite hairdo, with a bleached in look, like he's spent too much time in the sun.
I will be taking better pics of him once I get a suitable backdrop for him...he also has a barbed wire tattoo around his left ankle, and also a grease cloth with 'grease' paint on it from fixing his skateboard.
Hopefully, I will finish some prop items for the Indiana Jones figure I want to create...waiting while the paperclay dries!

Skipper bedroom diorama- almost done!

I am pleased that I finally got most of this diorama's major work finished -- today! Nothing like having a holiday weekend to make the creative juices flow and get some hurdles finished! Today, I completed the coverlets and decorative pillows on the bunkbeds, as well as the closet for Skipper's bedroom. This was a real milestone...the only other things left are to add a window and interior door into the bedroom, as well as 70's posters, and other little accessories. This diorama will sit on top of hte One Sixth Scale dollhouses' rooftop, as there isn't enough room to have a really nice bedroom for the younger dolls.
First, the bed- I chose two coordinating quilt square fabric pieces from Ben Franklin, and made reversible coverlets.

As you can see, the patterns are basically the same color coordination as the wallpaper. The bedroom will have posters of Donny Osmond and the Osmonds, the Partidge family, perhaps the Brady bunch, and maybe Scooby Doo, since those were some of my favorite pop culture things when I was small and played with Barbie & Skipper in the early 70's. This diorama will hold a mixture of today's SKipper, Stacie, and Chelsea- ugh, I don't like that they did away with Kelly- as well as Tutti, Buffy, Kelly and Scooter and Todd.
The closet doors were from Ebay, from a vintage Barbie dreamhouse, and they were perfect for the closet I had planned. I made the closet a removeable box/structure so if I wished, I could alter the placement of the room. Usually in homes back in the 70's, the closet was stuck near the door to the room, in a corner so it was not taking up most of the room.
I have finished or made so much headway- not just on the Skipper bedroom but I am currently still working on my custom Shriner dolls, in two larger scales, as well as a custom male figure with tattoos. I worked on him yesterday-- this is the first time I have ever fully customized a doll, so will have more pictures together when he has his outfit and accessories finished. More later!

More progress on the 1:6 scale dollhouse...

....as far as the bedroom suite goes. Today I took some pictures of it, with some of my Fashion Royalty divas- Concerto in M Agnes Von Weiss - I simply love this doll, I won her by chance on the W club forum in a answer/question contest they have sometimes. Also with Moods Veronique and High Tide Vanessa, and of course, Regal Solstice Anja, who is the newest W club gal. So here are some more furniture placement pics of the bedroom, I am liking what I see so far. Still needs the plasterwork moldings and pictures, I am searching for the right pics to resize and frame for the bedroom.

I used to really not like this Bespaq fireplace I had repaired and repainted, but now, with the bedroom suite, I really really am. I am wondering if the fireplace couldn't be made in white with ormalu which would be simply stunning. I hope to make this bedroom a la Marie Antoinette - like it was her bedroom at the Petite Trianon, which was done in pastels and light airy colors with the gold trimwork.After all, the Baroness' villa is called Maison de la Royale, (the name of the dollhouse, owned by my Agnes Von Weiss, sitting regally in the pink wingchair. Only the best for her Highness...)lol.

Re-decorating The One Sixth Scale Dollhouse...

Actually, re-furbishing the One Sixth Scale dollhouse is more like it. Storing the dollhouse in our large barn, which is partially unfinished, had me shudder. the most damage happened to the bedroom, so the wallpapers and partition were damaged, the wallpaper buckled and also had to be removed. So I started from scratch with that room, and decided to do away with the windows-and the partition- they make the lovely Bespaq furniture look cluttered. I decided on a new look and making the top floor just the bedroom in the French Louis XV style.

I used foamcore for the faux walls, alot more will be done to them- but here it is with furniture placement and Anja modeling for us.

In the midst of items that were packed, and unpacked, I decided to add a few items such as the faux marble painted Bespaq fireplace and the fabulous Jim Coates mirrors. (Jim sells on Ebay as Jim Coates Miniatures and also carries the large scale Bespaq- we are the only two sellers of the large scale items.I highly recommend Jim's mirrors, he does lovely plasterwork as well.) I thought his mirrors would make an excellent focal point on the bed by hanging a long mirror on each side. I am going to stick to this placement, and Anja loves it as well.

The Bespaq fireplace was originally mahogany finish, but was so broken I decided to play with a faux finish on it to see if it was possible. It was spray painted white and then marbelized and gilded. I may add a darker gilding to this later. I still have the chest, the vanity and chair, and the white embroidered Louis XV chair to add as well.

The living room/salon/dining room was unharmed, the curtains were intact! I set up what furniture was in the box, here it is.

I still have some work to do on this room as well. The lower room will be the kitchen with the Sindy furniture in it.

Moving the Playscale dollhouse....

I had alot of fun today.....most of you know the One Sixth Scale dollhouse originally resided at my shop when it was open, but because we closed the shop, the dollhouse had to come home. Temporarily, it was housed on its back in our large barn/garage....since March. Working my way through boxes of stock, I have finally cleared out a space in my small doll/dollhouse room for the dollhouse! Yeah! Cleaning out and downsizing your collection makes room for more!lol...the lament of all doll collectors!
However, storage in the garage caused a little bit of repair work that is needed. The room most in need of repair is the bedroom and small room that was Luchia's office. I had to rip out some of the wallpaper since it bubbled badly due to the heat and humidity in the barn and also rip out the partition wall. I will probably leave out the partition wall and just have this whole room a bedroom...it will give for better photography and able to store or display more of the W club girls....and the Silkstones as well. Skipper's bedroom diorama can go on top of the dollhouse, or I might find another space if possible for it to reside. Still downsizing the collection- so some roomboxes may go up on Ebay...lol to make shelf space.
I had some great wins on Ebay....amongst them was this wonderful rare set on Ebay from 2005 that usually goes for alot more than my small bid!

Also won on Ebay were these two barbie McDonald's happy meal trays...I'm still collecting items from Ebay for the resturarant/diner called-- what else? 'Mac Donald's Restuarant' (rhymes with Alice's Restuarant....remember that cool song on the radio at Thanksgiving??...so 80's!)
I did some prop placements with what I have collected so far-- and here are the pics...

I know I have more items, but was using the skipper bedroom scene box to look at placement. This placement won't work- I need to incorporate a kitchen with grill for the burgers, and also a cafe/dining room area. I have one counter that needs to have its picture cardboard insert replaced....this might be bashed to be a countertop space in the kitchen with take out bags on it.I am figuring my dimensions will have to be at least 24-28 inches deep, it will be rough to find a place for a permanet roomscene set up like I want. I am going to be focusing more on my 1:6 scale collection than my 1:12 -- which is why I am downsizing so many things such as magazines, etc. I have already got rid of three dollhouses in that scale so far. I will keep Strawberry Hill Manor, Tara, of course and Minnie's Little Sweet shop. And of course my very first dollhouse I am also refurbishing for the tiny bjd's....so many big dollhouses, so little time...lol...
Hopefully tomorrow will have more pictures to put up, I am going to try and work on both dollhouses depending on weather and time...

McDonald's diorama....

For a while, off and on, I have been collecting with the intention of doing a 1:6 scale resturant or diner, and not able to afford to win one of the cool Coca-Cola diners made in the 1990's for Barbie, I decided to do a fast food resturant such as McDonald's. Barbie playsets abound on Ebay, and I collected two at different auctions on Ebay. I was also able to acquire McDonald's Kelly and Barbies, with the aprons and hats. Last night I began going thru the items to see what I had and playing with them. I had thought of putting them on auction since I haven't used them much, but no such luck on me parting with these!
One backdrop has all of the stations on it, the fry station, the food cooler/warmer, the drink machine. My other one does have teh golden arches, and the fry station, but not any of the others, I was thinking of space constraints that one could be used for the back cook/kitchen set up. I do have two counters, one does not have the cardboard insert but I can copy that from the other more complete. I do have two registers and a couple of trays of foods. I have two? chairs and one of the tables. I am thinking if space is limited for this to just make it small or the same dimensions as the Skipper bedroom, which is where I haveit set up now. Some of the Rement tables could be used, I could probably find more of the tables that goes with this set on Ebay...and of course, plenty of rement food. One of the things I was thinking of doing was making this my own diner- such as calling it McDuffy's or something like that...so it could be a diner or cafe.....similar to what Hershey did with her City Circlez Coca-Cola diner on her Flicker album. Hershey has a website but couldn't find the link. Since I collect so much Rement and other 1:6 scale items I thought this would be neat for the storylines. Right now I was just doing placement to figure out the scene box dimensions. I have thought I could make the front small and concentrate on the serving counters and kitchen area, and use the same dimensions as I did with SKipper's roombox. Enjoy the pics!

The mini body snatcher...

I had some fun this weekend with my 'Grandma' Barbie. For a long time I haven't done much with her except use her in diorams with the Kellys and family themes. One frustration with this doll was her mature body- hello Mattel, older chubby lady here make clothes for her! So this weekend after looking at some pics of friends on Flicker, I swapped out her body for one of the new LIV dolls.

Grandma Barbie received LIV Sophie's articulated body, shown here. I was so amazed at how easy it is to pop off their heads and do this, just with a little heat from the blowdryer, no special tools involved were used to harm these dolls..........lol! I also stole Sophie's bathing suit and her wig. Here are some more photos of Grandma with her new articulated body and with the kids....Kelly and the Mini American Girl dolls, Emily & Kit.

Here she is sitting and standing with Kelly and a cup of coffee. Pretty amazing. Grandma likes her new body.
I am thinking of looking for a head for Grandma's old body, and experimenting with re-rooting. I would like another older lady doll as there would be some neat dioramas I could do with Grandma- also, she reminds me alot with the slimmer body of one of the characters from the Good Wife, I can't remember her name, the other lawyer who heads the firm. (love that show.) It would be cool to put her in a suit. I have long wanted to do my own custom dolls and repaints. Looking at all of the amazing artists on the web, I think I am going to start. '

Sindy fridge arrived! More on Sindy kitchen diorama...

Yippee! My Sindy fridge won on Ebay arrived yesterday ! I couldn't believe how great it was, and at such a great price. Sindy items are generally hard to find in the US, but they were more intricately detailed than Mattel, which was the cardboard king. Sindy items are generally from the United Kingdom.

The fridge came with ice cube tray w/ removeable ice cubes! plastic shelves for each side, not all were there, but there were enough to make it look believeable. 3 boxes of green beans, Pepsi, water pitcher, ham, chocolate milk, and pizza box with pizza completed the set. I am really really pleased with this item. If you cannot get a Kenmore kitchen, Sindy is the next best thing- and there were alot of color variations out there, including the dreaded pink.
The diorama roombox scene for this kitchen is not as permanent as my Skipper bedroom I posted about yesterday. I will probably make this into a good roombox for the shelf as well, since the Skipper bedroom went together so quickly. I originally purchased this set for the one sixth scale dollhouse- but may collect more Sindy kitchen items for that dollhouse room itself.
When the roombox is finished, I will put the rest of the wallpapers up, and then the fun will begin. This room needs a nice window and a good door as well, to make it look as true to life as I would like.

Skipper bedroom diorama progress..

Today I hit the sale at Michael's while out running errands. I have still been working on the Sindy kitchen scene, but wanted a special roombox for the vintage bunkbeds I had for Skipper. I was lucky enough to find more of the scrapbook paper that matched what I used for the Sindy kitchen, plus they had a sale on foamcore 2 for $3!! Four sheets and I was ready to build my bedroom.
Dimensions for this room matched the cheapo plastic shelves from BJ's I purchased a few years ago for about $20 apiece- I have three. I think the reason for the cheapo price back then is they were in the kids' crayola colors- blue red and yellow, and are made of plastic. Not Ikea, but they do to hold the dolls and room box scenes, and miniature items, plus my boxed dolls as well. The SKipper bedroom and teh Sindy kitchen will reside on these shelves. I'm cleaning out my display space of items I don't use anymore, so please watch my Ebay Auctions . I currently have three lots of American Miniaturist & Miniature Collector magazines with 14 magazines in each lot starting at a low bid of $1.99, plus a set of repainted barbie salon furniture for 3.99. And of course, damaged large scales of Bespaq- but keep watching because I will be listing more magazines and barbies and props as well from my own personal collection. Bids will be started very low as I need to move these items.
Back to the bedroom scene- Dimensions on the room are 28 inches wide, 15 inches deep and 15 inches high. Small, but I think this will pack some punch. One reason I wish to make room scenes on the shelves is to hold all of my extra props and furniture and dolls- I am so tired of my dolls having no place to stand or be displayed comfortably. I will also be working on a room scene for the Jonathan Adler sofa that will be very modern.

Materials used- Loctite caulk adhesive- available at Home Depot or Lowe's, wood grained shelf paper- also available at Family dollar stores or Lowe's, scissors, xacto knife, rulers, & 3 sheets of foamcore, one 1:12 scale dollhouse miniature window component.

Measure the space where you wish your roombox to be placed, and shave an inch off. I have not placed a ceiling on my roombox as of yet, to make it easier to put the wallpaper on the walls. I use YES! scrapbook paper glue for this- it is available in Michael's or other hobby stores. I put my floor shelf paper on the floor before glueing the walls and floor together.

Cut your foamcore. Remember, measure twice, cut once. It helps to write down your dimensions of the shelf you are creating for. Put a line of loctite caulk adhesive on the bottom edges of the back wall and floor, glue together. Let it sit for a few minutes as it grabs quickly. Next, cut your side wall panels, and do the same as you did for the floor. After these pieces are glued, it helps for steadying and dry time to put a couple of pieces of masking tape on the outside walls to holdit while the loctite dries.

Hopefully, next step will be the paper for the walls!

An update on dolly arrivals- Mini American Girl Kit has arrived! Mini Emily is excited and anxious for me to start back to work on Kit's bedroom in the dollhouse. Mini Kit comes to the doll family from one of my friends at American Girl Playthings forum where I hang out. Cheryl, also known as Memory on the board, collects Little Mo's and Hitty dolls as well as the mini american girl dolls. This Kit is special because she repainted her eyes. I look forward to seeing what adventures these two will get into, especially since Mini Rebecca who was won from Ebay will be arriving shortly as well!

All in all, had a great day and hope to get some more work done on both the kitchen and bedroom scenes this week!

Vintage Skipper bed project...

Today I had some time to myself and decided to work some more on my diorama projects I had started. Months ago, I won this wonderful vintage Skipper bunk bed for a whopping $16 including shipping on Ebay. It did not have some of its original bedding, just the frame. I had long wanted to put it into the One Sixth Scale dollhouse, but it would not fit. So I am going in my travels to look for more foamcore to make a Skipper scene, as I simply love this bed.

Unlike some Barbie collectors, I have always loved Francie, Stacey, Tutti, Skipper, Scooter, Todd, & Kelly far more than Barbie herself. I think as a child PJ (not really known to exist anymore) was more appealing to me because of her ponytails and hair ornaments. My Malibu PJ lies in my Barbie case as testament to this, since she was actually one of my favorites.

Today I made mattresses and pillows with pillow cases for the beds. It was actually quick, easy and fun, just the sort of project I like. I have a vintage Skipper, but couldn't locate her in time for this photo. So Growing Up Skipper, Tutti, Kelly and Mini American Girl Emily are all in the pic. I've always thought Skipper's bedroom would be more fun to do, with pre adolescent toys, bunk beds, pillow fights, sleep overs that remind me of my own teenage years. Especially with that Brady Bunch color scheme, moddish yellows and pinks, it will look really great. For now, I used the kitchen set up on the shelf to take the pics of the bedding. I will probably make a trip to Joann's for some mod fabrics to go with the bedding. Also, some posters of Donny Osmond, Shawn Cassidy, and so on and Skipper's bedroom should be cool looking.

UPDATE ON the Vintage Sindy Kitchen project: This project is coming along. I won a vintage Sindy side by side fridge and it's being shipped- what a great price for a vintage piece- $15!!Her cabinets are harder to get ahold of, but am working on it.

UPDATE ON THE Tinies' dollhouse restoration-This is coming along as well. The attic rooms will be made to look like Kit's bedroom in the historical series- Mini Kit is coming to live here, as well as Mini Rebecca! So soon the dollhouse will be overrun with Mini AG's...and I need to start sewing. lol . Today am cutting the stripwood to make the rafters/timbers in Kit's bedroom. I'm working from one of the older Pleasant company American Girl catalogs and it is really coming along.Hopefully will be able to find a mniature bed similar to Kits that can be painted green and go into that room.

More 1:6 scale fun with vintage Sindy furniture....

After the loads of pics of Mini Emily and my tiny bjd's with the whole dollhouse restoration project going on, I have been working on making enough room in the 'display' room for the actual One Sixth Scale Dollhouse- my fashion dolls have been languishing on shelves and tubs, only being taken out to take a quick snap with a piece of furniture that I'm listing for sale, or just for my own fun. Since moving from the shop, the dollhouse has been stored in the barn. I know when I finally do get things arranged and the dollhouse moved in, it will need loads of touchup. In the midst of the sorting in the display room, I decided to make full use of the shelves, and display other furniture sets that usually are stored in containers. I originally purchased this Sindy kitchen set on Ebay last year for the dollhouse. I have decided to look for a Kenmore kitchen set or another Sindy kitchen set, for the dollhouse and have a vintage kitchen set up like one of my friend Riekie, whose album is on Flicker. I loved the way she did this display using the Sindy furniture, not impossible to find in the UK, hard to find on Ebay in the USA.
Here are the pics of what I have so far constructed for the shelf display, using foamcore and posterboard.

As you can see, the whole setup looks nice but the laptop cabinet will probably disappear, since it appears to be too modern and not as in scale as the Sindy furniture with the Rement! Holiday Thanksgiving Feast Barbie and Mini American Girl Emily look right in place with the miniatures I did for placement. I am thinking of taking the pieces which are simply taped together right now and making them into an actual roombox that fits into the shelf space, but the foamcore pieces adhered/glued together for a more permanent and stronger structure. I was really pleased at how well the scrapbook papers matched this color of the Sindy items.

Mini Emily is ready for breakfast, lunch and dinner with Barbie standing nearby ready to provide turkey if that isn't enough to satisfy the Rement appetite.

Doll size comparisons

It has been a rainy day here this Sunday morning, so I knew that I wouldn't get much done on the dollhouse restoration, which is moving along quickly. I have some exciting ideas for the attic rooms on the third floor, so must get materials together before moving forward on those rooms.
Since I was a little bored, I decided to take some comparison doll photos of the Mini American Girl Emily doll I received,with other small dolls. One of the most unusual things about these dolls is they are more in scale than the current Mattel Chelsea- who is far too thin and skinny for a little girl- she is so oddballish. Why oh why did they do away with Kelly....
anyhow, here are some of the photos! Enjoy!

On a lighter note, I was able to get pics of Mini Emily visiting Minuette's sweet shop. I think she loves Rement!

Door exterior finished..More dollhouse Restoration!

I got alot done this morning on the dollhouse. I finished wallpapering the 2nd floor bedrooms, and did some on the parlor as well- except for the stairway wall. Kitchen baseboards are stained and installed. But mainly, the thing that was stumping me a bit was the front door- it would have to be built up with stripwood, which I did as you can see here. I will probably get a curved pediment and glue it over the door, but for now, I am thinking it looks pretty good. I used golden oak miniwax for that and the baseboards in the kitchen, and it turned out nice.

Here is the upper right hand bedroom finished with its paper, and the closet door framed in. I decided on this because it is such an oddball height- 8 inches and 1 7/8 inches wide!! My dad wasn't too exact on convenience for the dolls back in 1975...lol. So I used stripwood stained and framed in the doorway. The borrowers will probably move into that space....lol. Here you can also see the Kitchen finished as well with its baseboard trim. Sorry my pictures are so bright, but I work outside in the cool of the morning on two large tables in my yard, near the garage office, and it is convenient to move about in.

April Mae and Mini Emily loved the new renovations, and April Mae said '..it's about time! This is alot more space and I can't be cooped up with all those OTHER dolls!' She made herself right at home upstairs. I didn't have the heart to tell her that ALL of the tiny dolls would be living there...

I stopped work on the house attic rooms because though I had purchased wallpaper for them, I had an idea that I might do something a little different..........more updates later!

More Dollhouse Restoration continued...

Well, more dollhouse restoration is continued on my old dollhouse. Working on this house brings back tons of memories, good ones, when I played with it as a kid. I remember about this time loving that school was going to be out so I could play with it even more and create more items for the dolls, such as clothes, food out of polymer clay, and so on. This old house is special to me, and it feels good again to be making it beautiful again, after so much neglect.
I purchased the wallpapers for all the rooms and am pleased with the colors. I got one of the upper bedrooms papered today, and the kitchen as well as all of the floors done too. When the house is totally papered I can being to work on cornices and floorboards, and then the windows.

Also, today a surprise came in the mail- Mini American Girl Emily! She came in her box with her small book. The mini american girl dolls stand about 6 inches high, and are perfect for the dollhouse, since its scale is so wacky. I took a few pics to see how she would look in the dollhouse, and she will work out fine. The tinies haven't met her yet, but Big American Girl Kit has...
I am hoping to do some more work on the dollhouse tomorrow, which will make wonderful new memories for its history.....out with the old, in with the new!

Anja is finally deboxed!

Regal Solstice Anja, my new Fashion Royalty W club doll, arrived about a month ago- in early April, but I waited until yesterday to debox her. She was still in the box when I attended last month's Va. Fashion doll club meeting for show and tell. This dress is so lovely, it reminds me of the photographer Cecil Beaton and the fashions back in the fifties with the elaborate embroidery on filmy, gauzey fabrics. Sheer perfection, so feminine. sigh...would love to dress this way, sorta timeless.
Haven't yet deboxed my Dressmaker Details fashion I won in the W club lottery, Starry Night. What???you say?? Dressmaker Details, W club dolls just sitting about in their boxes?? no deboxing???lol. Yes. My 1:6 scale dolly budget has been severely cut back. I am trying to decide which Barbie should come home soon, I'm thinking probably Jack Sparrow, as I kind of like the whole pirate thing. lol.

Yesterday I did loads of work on the house, getting pieces of wallpaper off, alot of scraping, and getting glitter glue off one or two of the steps as well. In this before picture you can see where I had to scrape it off the wall and one of the steps taking off finish. That's ok, because the floors will be done as well. I still marvel at how well my stepdad did the workmanship on this house. I came up with some ideas to add provenance, or history behind the house as well. My stepdaughter originally had a name plate over the door, which I pulled off and set aside. The windows and door have to be customized for this house. Above is a picture of the nameplace, and the date she received the house. I plan to put another one on the house, with ny name and the date of my nineth birthday as well, but will probably put both on different places in the house, as well as my own signature and maybe my dad's signature as well, since he built the house. The house is almost 30 years old, and has held up incredibly well.

New project dollhouse

I have a new project on the works, of restoration. The house is quite special because it was my childhood dollhouse, created for me by my stepdad when I was nine years old- back in 1974-1975. It is unique because it isn't really too scale, but was made for me to play with my 8 inch Madame Alexander dolls. Remember the 2 little girls and a little dollhouse, from Sesame street, where the kittens crash the party? click the video above, this was one of my favorites as a child.

The house had been repainted along in 2001 0r 2002 for my stepdaughter when she turned about 7 years old, and was repainted in her color choices, and we had an open dollhouse party for her birthday. Since it has been just sitting there, I noticed the scale of the house, similar to the dollhouse in the video (I estimate the scales of the two houses to be 1 1/2 inches to the foot, since they were chubby little Madame Alexanders) would be wonderful for my tiny bjd's, especially April Mae, my new Leekeworld doll project Rainy acquisition I got for my birthday.
I have started to paint the house, white with black roof shingles. I still need to repair the shingles in places.

Here are some of the pictures after it was painted with primer and one coat of regular house paint. The interior needs alot of work. The most beautiful thing about this house is the staircase, with closet underneath that my stepdad Mr. Tom, made me. I will probably be wallpapering it inside - since this house is going to be upgraded to be a little modern. The house is quite large, it sits on casters. I remember it was made that way so I could roll it into the den or living room and be with the family while I played.
The doors and windows are much tougher, but I have decided on bay windows on the four larger windows. The one overtop of the door will be the hardest to work. I will probably use a 1:12 scale door built up with stripwood and moldings for the front door.

April Mae has already picked out her windows, still need to order more. She likes the view but isn't too sure she will like the painting prospect. I have included this house in the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse blog because though it will be decorated in 1:12 scale, you will see occasional oddities in scale with this house, such as Rement, etc. since the tinies love Rement.
A note on April Mae: She is quite a fiesty little one, even more so than Dixie. And that's bossy! She likes things 'just so' and is quite unsatisfied with the haphazaard way the tinies have run things at Strawberry Hill Manor. I named her April Mae because she arrivedin April, and May was my birthday month. April Mae is quite demanding in the clothing department, so the vintage Tutti dress was the first thing she stole from one of the other dolls. lol. More on April Mae later....

Leekeworld Doll Project Rainy...

My Leekeworld Rainy arrived about a few days before my birthday....and this little doll is hard to figure out. First, she has been quite shy about telling me her name...and she seems to sit apart from the other tinies, who are far more extroverted. I had some time the other day and did a few shots of her in the Bespaq bed from the dollhouse, and she seemed to come out ofher shell in the comfy bed. She has a sweet face, and I'm going to be getting some new outfits for her. I believe she is about the size of a Lati White special, since they are about 12 cm and she 13.5 cm (5 1/2 inches high) it is her body and feet that are a little hard to fit.

I will be posting more pics when I get them taken of Wren (Realpuki Soso) and her little house when it is finished!

I had a few new residents arrive at the One Sixth Scale dollhouse & Pumpkin Hill....one of them is Jason Wu's Regal Solstice...she is so so gorgeous....reminds me of the 50's and the British fashion houses back then, photographed by Cecil Beaton...

I have had a wonderful birthday weekend...the best in years. The weather has been lovely, and lots of dolly dreams came true. The tinies got together and wished me a Happy Birthday as well...............

In Honor of the Royal Wedding....tea anyone?

In honor of the royal wedding yesterday...of Prince William & Kate Middleton, now the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, I decided to take some pics of one of my favorites teacups, the Prince Charles and Princess Diana commemorative teacup/saucer that was created by Crown Trent in honor of the birth of their first child, Prince William. It seems like only yesterday that we watched as Dianna brought him home from the hospital!

In honor of the occasion, Annabelle decided to serve High tea. Set is Luxury French Rement, this is one of my favorites sets. The table is a One of a Kind Bespaq prototype table.Yes, I am still working on her outfit!lol!

These are some closeups of the teacup, this is one of my favorites pieces in my collection of tea items & china.

Happy Easter from the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse!

For anyone who knows me, you know I love Easter...in a way, Easter to me is better than Christmas...and it is about more than wonderful chocolates, jelly beans, or Easter bunnies. We celebrated beginning on Saturday night, with Easter Vigil & Mass at church, and what a beautiful candlelight service it was.

The Cross staged in the hallway before entering the sanctuary of the Church. It was a beautiful service.

Our preparations go to the dolls, who of course must celebrate Easter, such as the new little Easter Chelsea, all decked out in her bunny ears with her tiny basket near the flowers on the table, for Easter dinner.

The dogwood branches are from our dogwood in the front yard, and I usually use the best china & the silver. It made for a nice lovely table, in preparation for our Easter dinner. I must admit, I cannot resist using my dolls to celebrate the season...

Va. Fashion Doll club meeting- Tea in the Garden!

This past Sunday I attended my Va. Fashion Doll Club meeting- which was Tea in the garden of our club president. The dolls were to wear a fashion or tea related, and here they are on the runway table. We had great fun and there were lovely tea tarts, tea sandwiches- cucumber, chicken salad, egg salad, fruit, scones and variety of teas- Earl Grey my dear. Shown here on the runway are some of the stunning ladies who attended!

I of course, carried Poppy Parker in her ribbon fashion I had made- she looks like a beauty in the spring colors, and all ready for tea in the garden with daisies in her hair.

While us ladies had tea in the garden, our first Ken dolls or our first Ken dolls as collectors, waited for the ladies on a table inside. I brought Roger Sterling, as with all the dolls packed up because of the move from the shop, my first Ken doll- Malibu Ken- was packed away. Luckily, Mad Men Ken was available.

Some of the items we had on the table for Tea, and of course, our teacups we each brought. In honor of Prince William getting married this week to Kate Middleton, I brought my commomerative teacup with Prince Charles & Princess Diana's pictures on it- this teacup (right) was created in honor of their first born son- Prince William of Wales. What a great way to celebrate the wedding of Prince William- tea int he garden with dolls!lol!

Some of the ladies brought by club members for tea, displayed on the coffee table inside before gooing outdoors for the runway.
Was a great club day- and planning for our next club meeting in May coming up- Miss America contest with actual costume changes. My state will be Georgia, and am already planning what outfits and what doll would look like a perfect Miss Georgia!

A is for Annabelle.Project ..continued

My A is for Annabelle project is slowly, slowly coming along. Annabelle now has a negligee & a skirt & chemisette blouse, and a petticoat to wear now. I have not had time to cut out the jacket waist with ruffled sleeves to complete her outfit on the cover/flyleaf of the book, not find a bonnet that would be suitable. This was my first chemisette made from a pattern on French Fashion Revue, and I drafted the pattern for the skirt myself, and her petticoat as well. I at first wanted to stick to antique looking fabrics, but decided to use readily available fabrics instead of trying to be slavish to the period-- I am more concerned if my look mirrors what Tasha drew. This is a fun project, and I have alot of work ahead- the next is her 'box' or trunk in the hall...I am thinking of looking for one of those trunks at Hobby Lobby or Michael's when they come around again.

I have not done very much with the 1:6 scale dollhouse, and I am still inthe process of making room in our den for it, and it will probably receive a few repairs and touchups. When I do get it set up, the kitchen is on the list for revamping. I have a few more fashion dolls I need to post about, but that will come after I get the photos arranged & set up! A is for Annabelle...continued

All has been quiet in the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse....and I have finished part of Annabelle's outfit from the book.."A is for Annabelle,' by Tasha Tudor. Here she is shown above beside my prototype Bespaq french tea table with a cup of tea (Rement, Luxury French series) on display with other pieces of Bespaq in large scale at a program I recently presented for the Capital Doll Club on April 5th, 2011. (See http://www.kingwilliamminiatures.blogspot.com/ for more on this presentation, & more pics.) As you can see, I made her a chemisette from a pattern on French Fashion Doll review I printed off online, and her skirt was made with measurements & my own pattern. I also finished a petticoat, shortening the skirt pattern and adding some ruffled ribbon to help the skirt sit out. I now need to finish the top jacket with the sleeves Tasha drew for Annabelle on the flyleaf picture of the book, and also work on getting her a bonnet. I have stopped on this project so far since I have been working lately on the larger dolls in Pumpkin Hill who need my attention and have very active lives. Annabelle is my quiet little china angel, and sewing for her I try to achieve as much perfection as I can, for this little french fashion beauty.

I haven't done very much in the way of setting up the dollhouse, as I am unpacking alot of items that were moved from the shop, and the boxes containing the furniture are still packed up, though I took a few samples to the doll club presentation. I am hoping to get along enough to get back to my sewing & design challenges for myself, especially from watching the Couture Doll Design challenge- it is amazing what some of the contestants did with ribbon! So am hoping to get some pictures of some scenes together, when I get a chance to set up some scenes- especially for Easter.

Annabelle getting ready for bed....

After bringing home the furniture from the store out of the one sixth scale dollhouse, I couldn't resist setting up a small photo op with Annabelle and my gorgeous Bespaq bed. As you can see, it suits her to a tee. I know now that Annabelle may need a sister or cousin....(just another excuse for another doll!) and more sewing! I have purchased the fabric- two kinds of pink checked gingham and am torn...there was a silky gingham with gold threads running through it that would at first I thought do well for that dress that the doll wears on the cover of the book, but I also purchased a smaller check in same colors in seersucker and I think that may be what the dress will be made of. Yeah Joann's sale. I have ordered a back issue of Gildebrief magazine from Dollbooksandmore on ebay, so one of the patterns I need for Annabelle's first dress may be int here. I may work on her petticoat and pantalets this weekend, if I have time.
You may want to browse my Flickr album as I am involved with doing what is called A Doll a Day project for 365 days...Annabelle is featured in some of the photos. This group is more fun than some of the other project groups on flicker, who require dates on your pics, restrictions up the yazoo, so it isn't fun. Many people use the same doll in different poses every day, which is comical. I look at it as my thing I do every morning, and it helps me to focus more on my dolls, especially my fashion dolls.

Almost ready for the move...

Well, the divas have moved out and the one sixth scale dollhouse (otherwise known as Maison de la Royale) is ready for moving. While we were at our shop, over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the dollhouse graced our window and I was glad to say, gave a great deal of enjoyment to passersbys and children, young & old. The dolls had a good time being the divas & devos they are, and they enjoyed the attention.
This morning I went over to the shop early to move the furniture, since most of it is quite fragile, and rare. Hopefully now the dollhouse will be gracing the den and more adventures of the dolls will be coming soon. Poppy Parker- Fun with Ribbon!

It has been so busy about here, but was experimenting with some ribbon the other day. I got the idea partially from the newest CDDC challenge, which is to make an outfit out of ribbon, and thought hmmm, that is so cool. I am addicted to ribbon myself, and usually buy it to decorate for parties, presents, etc. vs. buying alot of the plastic nylon stuff to decorate with. Shopping in Joann's, I found the most marvelous striped ribbon that reminded me a bit of Poppy Parker and her modish 60's style. The enitre dress is made of ribbon, the only trim is her daisys on the top of the bodice and her headband, also made of ribbon matching her straps.
I wish to make clear that though I am following the CDDC closely, I am doing the challenges on my own- I am not a contestant. Sewing for my dolls has been one of my goals in the new year, especially since acquiring my sweet French Fashion doll Annabelle, shown below.

I was also excited while at Joann's because I found the most wonderful pink checked gingham like material, only like silk/satin tha twill be perfect for Annabelle's dress as it looks in the book by Tasha Tudor. Right now all I have been able to finish on this is her negligee. I would love to have her in a lovely dress by Easter- so I had better step up to it!
Update on the 1:6 scale dollhouse- she is almost packed up and ready to move. The big deal was moving the furniture out of the dollhouse- I am hoping to bring that home today in my spare time. he furniture is so delicate and each has to be packed so it doesn't get damaged. This will be my oppurtunity to get the kitchen floor redone- as I could not put my Sindy kitchen oven range that matched the sink and stove.

East Meets West design finished...

Instead of altering my former post, I decided to just add an updated post with the finished design. The only thing I did not finish was her fan accessory, which I wanted to handpaint- Ihad finished the handle, but not the fan part itself. I was very pleased with my very first design for a fashion doll, my husband loved it after I showed him the doll staged & ready for pics. Here she is- Agnes in 'East Meets West' .....

Couture Doll Design Challenge!

The Couture Doll Design Challenge, otherwise known as CDDC , has started a spring season. I have always wanted to do this challenge, since watching my friend Em'lia do the challenge and win about two years ago with her blog Creazione= creations in miniature & her flicker albums as well. Her designs were so inspiring, and the other contestants as well. The first challenge has been posted to the CDDC Website and yahoo group, and it is all about ribbons- the judge who came up with 'Tie one on!' is the owner of Masterstroke Canada- Dressmaker Details, Steven Fraser. A few days ago when I saw the tentative schedule & contestants up for the challenge, I decided now was the time to challenge myself. I wished to complete the outfit before CDDC's 1st challenge was up- but I only have one piece to sew and the jewelry to finish- and I am done with my East Meets West challenge. The entire outfit is handcrafted, no patterns used, handsewn, and even the shoes are made. My purpose in challenging myself was to spur on my creativity, and force myself to try new things- such as sewing, and see if I have what it takes to work with fabrics in clothing for dolls.

First I started with the sketches I had come to mind...and looked through my stash of fabrics.
I had already created the forms for the shoes, now I needed to pick out the color of paint to match the two contrasting fabrics. I finally settled on Tuscan Red.

In my design of East Meets West, I was designing for a young urbanite western (American ) woman who has made her home & life in Japan, and is married to a wealthy business man. She loves the new fashion in Japan, and has an edgy, elegant style. My design was a sheath style with seperate bodice, skirt, and a sash that attaches in the back that resembles teh Obi sash on a kimono. The shoes are meant to resemble the torturous clogs/shoes that aristacratic Oriental woman wore to make their feet smaller, and these heels must be torturous to my Agnes Von Weiss model. Shoes were handsculpted out of paperclay. inside soles are red leather, with floss ties.
I will be posting more pics later when her jewelry and other part of the outfit is finished...

Though I admit my design is far from finished, and does not equal some of the contestants who are competing in this awesome doll courture challenge, I was pleased with my 1st try. I actually also enjoyed sewing the outfit, which surprised me. I shopped for the beads and supplies to make the dolls jewelry to match this. the lacings on her bodice also tie around the Obi sash. I finished her hairpiece items and still have to complete her fan accessory as well. I hope to be updating this entry later with the finished pictures, so stay tuned, and enjoy the new CDDC challenge site! I am trying to figure out a design using ribbons!

Annabelle in the mirror...

I couldn't resist posting these pics here on the blog...no, the one sixth scale dollhouse has not yet come home yet, but I had some fun the other day posing Annabelle with Bespaq's 1:6 cheval mirror and some props..she loves her new negligee & I am working on a new dress for her as well...sigh, more sewing. But I have to admit sewing for these dolls is such fun! I am working on replicating Blondinette's stationary set for her, which is almost done, and might soon appear on Pumpkin Hill Studios on Etsy. I have been working on some artisan items & selling thru Etsy, so keep a watch onour new site.
I am still looking for matching fabricx to replicate the first dress in pink stripes/checks in Tasha's book A is for Annabelle. I am also looking for a similar pattern. The pattern for her negligee is from Gildebrief's summer 2010 issue, modified a bit - I used lace that was more in scale for Annabelle.

Project finished!

Project finished! Annabelle finally now has a deshabille' or negligee. I started with a pattern from Gildebrief, and went from there. I modified it a bit, because the pattern called for a more thinner fabric than the muslin I used. I also did away with the wide ruffle of the original pattern, which looked rather awkward to me for such a delicate doll. I used a very narrow transparent white lace to edge her collar, cuffs, hem and down the front and a blue silk ribbon for the bow. Simplicity in my mind always speaks louder for elegance than garish lace that is not real lace. The original pattern had used a lace that was too out of scale for this delicate lady, I am pleased with my first attempt at her deshabille. I am thinking of working on a more ambitious project after I finish the rest of her underpinnings, if I can get the patterns for teh gowns. It will be a while before I begin the first of the dresses from A is for Annabelle, still looking forthe appropriate fabric for the pink dress on the cover of the book.

A is for Annabelle!

Introducing....Annabelle our new resident at the one sixth scale dollhouse! No, my Fashion Royalty & Silkstone divas haven't moved out. I have always wanted a reproduction french fashion doll such as this one. I have named her Annabelle after Tasha Tudor's book...A is for Annabelle .I believe that Tasha's doll was actually a Lady Jumea. My doll was made by Sylvia Butler, a guilded Doll artisan & member of G.M.D.M. of Tarhill Creations. I met Sylvia at the recent Capital doll club show at the Showplace where I was a dealer this past Saturday on Feb. 26th. She comes to this show alot and I have always lusted after oneof these little ladies! This show I got my wish.
Annabelle is an FG head on a Seeley body, better in my opinion than the Guildebrief body. She has glass eyes and pearl earrings. I plan to start sewing different projects in spare time- what's that? lol to make her a trousseau.
This weekend I started cutting out pieces of muslin for the negligee from a past issue of Gildebrief, to try my hand at sewing for her. Annabelle stook over me nearby and supervised....

I am having loads of fun with her, and want to replicate items from the book as a project, one of my doll yahoo groups talked about how some doll clubs had made items in the book for their french fashion dolls. While she is a little lady, she also has a child like quality to her sculpt which appeals to me a bit, the Francois Gaultier molds have a similar Huret style to them, and Huret is one of my favorites. She has already claimed one of the Bespaq Louis chairs for her own...

Sorry for the bright pics at the end, it was difficult yesterday to get good lighting for these pictures, especially when I took some time out to work on the cutting of the pattern pieces. I think the chair looks stunning next to her, this one is in 1:4 scale but since she is somewhat chunky she looks ok next to it, technically she is about 1:6 scale. These dolls were the original 'Barbie' of the 1840's- 1890's- the creme de la creme of fashion dolls.

For sources on reproduction & antique french fashion dolls, especially the 12 inch ones- here are some useful links which have helped me, a novice and which might start the fever for you to own one of these stunning dolls:

Gildebrief Magazine - this magazine is produced in English as well as German. You can also buy copies on Ebay, it runs about $18.95 each, but extremely useful and cost effective for patterns for these dolls,

Theriault's auction house known for being an auctioneer of some of the most premiere antique collections of dolls or dollhouses in the world. Florence Theriault is one of the leading experts today and gives classes on how to appraise and identify antique dolls
Jackie's Porcelain dolls Another creator of french fashion dolls, BLuette, Daisy, etc.
Petite Pandore a yahoo group that is devoted to 12inch and larger french fashion dolls. Moderator is Barbara Devilbiss. Lots of useful info from talented collectors and experts on this group- I have learned somuch here!
Dollspart Supply useful site for wigs, tools, supplies to either create your own French fashion doll or to buy patterns, kits, accessories for these little ladies. Also a great source for the hard to find books on French fashion dolls. Highly recommend.

These are just a few of the well known links, there are others and also other talented artisans out there as well. I reommend from my own experience in doing a bit of research before buying your doll, as she is an investment. If you are a purist, and truly wish to own an antique lady, then auctions are probably your best source.

New project: Miniature 1:12 scale Steampunk Tea table

Welcome to my new project! I know this is a post unusual to the one sixth scale dollhouse blog, but I have ventured back in to my 1:12 scale creations and am having a ball. I have been fascinated with steampunk, and steampunk miniatures. The world of steampunk is so creative, whether it be jewelry, clothing or decor.

My steampunk miniature tea table is in 1:12 scale. Not finished yet, but pics are posted on facebook page as well my King William Miniatures facebook page also. I did a special birds' eye maple on the table, and made the teacup/bread etegere, along with the cup rack. If you look closely, you can see the 'hot' water and the cogs and wheels underneath the server working to pump 'hot' water into the teacups. I also made all of the breads on the rack. Doll is from my personal collection by Sherri Colvin.

Hello there!

Well hello there! How are you? Just stopping by Minuette's shop and picking up some mail. Oh, yes, we've been settling in quite well at the Manor. The pig? Meet Oink...isn't she adorable? Iknow, but I haven't ever owned a piggy before.

I have so much exciting news to tell you! We are going to be able to re0institute our postal system again. There is a lovely little bird who has agreed to carry letters from all the dolls at the Pumpkin Patch. Miss Lisa is so pleased....so she told us to start preparing our letters so they could be delivered. Our little bird hasn't arrived yet, and so we are pretty excited. This means all of the dolls will be able to correspond with each other. It really makes it easier than relying on if Miss Lisa puts us all on the same shelf or table to keep in touch!
I'm heading to the Manor now...maybe you can catch up & meet me there??

Whew- you are quick! Let's take these letters upstairs!

hmm, looks...like an invitation of some sort for Valentine's day Miss Lisa has sent me. I have to get all of the correspondence, so I will have to inform the rest of the dolls in the 'Patch....I'll look at the rest of this later.

Well, thanks for being patient with me. Well, lots has been going on here at Pumpkin Hill. I have had alot to do. The dog? That is Fifi...Minuette thought the poodle should have a French name. I like how she matches my dress. Oink isn't allowed in the house....We've been doing alot to get ready for Valentine's day...do you like my new dress?

Well, what we've been doing...Minuette & I have been trying out new cookie recipes for Valentines' day....

What do you think Minuette? Minuette: I think they are rather small...that's not big enough cookie...

I like them, oops, I guess I had to eat one!

We also all three of us, decided to have tea and discuss our plans for Valentine's day. Maizie was being disagreeable and wanted to eat Strawberry shortcake. She wouldn't try on her new Valentine's day dress...but I guess her red striped shirt would do....

As you can tell, Minuette & I are on a pink and red kic I think I am more of a girly doll than Maizie...& I just like everything to match.
So I've also been overseeing the work that is to begin onthe old dollhouse of MIss Lisa's...where all of us tinies will be living...after all this big house is somewhat small....and Mrs. Woodenhouse might want to move back in soon.........

Yeah, those are paint cans and that is a brush Miss Lisa wanted me- ME to pick up with...and just when she had made me a new dress. This house will need more than paint to make it better...is what I told her. hmph....

Maizie has a new bicycle...and isn't it darling? Miss Lisa said she had a bike just like it, only much, much bigger when she was a little girl...and hers wasn't red it was purple....

We have been getting alot of mail from Miss Lisa...Maizie and I are run ragged keeping up...Here I am at Miss Lisa's shop getting a package! Maizie is beginning to make regular trips to the post office box as well.

Even some of the Divas that live in the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse are baking and getting ready for Valentine's day with delicious stuff to eat...Learning to Cook Barbie was packing up this cake in a cake box when I spotter her...I asked Miss Lisa why she was called that...and Miss Lisa just grinned and said, 'Well Dixie, she's still learning to cook!'

(just between you & me, Miss Barbie is a little OLD not to know how to cook! Isn't she like., 50???)

Anyways, the cake looked yummy. I couldn't resist taking a slice for myself when Miss Barbie wasn't looking... But I guess she checked the cake again and found a slice gone...well us Brownies work up an appetite...

Well, that is all the news on me, Maizie, & Minuette. I will update you more later when there is more to tell.

Oh my, didn't you give me a start! Hello there! What? Oh yes, Miss Lisa has me hooked on barbiecollector.com Research you know- soon the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse, the diva's dollhouse, will be coming home from the shop soon, so I have to know what type of dolls I will be dealing with...you startled me! But this house is pretty old. I'm not crazy about my office- it will be redecorated soon...

Well, I guess I should catch you up on how we tinies here are settling in at Strawberry Hill Manor. Pretty good, if I do say so myself. My office is going to be repainted and Miss Lisa brought home an unfinished bookshelf- it's behind me- and my office will be done in modern, painted white. I will order my computer desk when Minuette decides what kind of stove & sink she wants in the kitchen. As for settling in...
everyone kind of has their own routine now.

Maizie helps in the kitchen...

She's really great at making pies! My favorite is being made right now- banana cream pie! Maizie is one cool doll.
We also got a new dining room set, which looks much more nicer with the pretty wallpaper, and brighter...

We all had dinner last night on the new dining room, with the new Rement coffee cups that had arrived. It was a treat! Last night it was baked ham...Minuette, Maizie & I talked about the preparations for the new tiny who will be here in a few months...

Minuette takes care of our mail, and general tidying of the house, which isn't easy-- since this is such a big house! Today she received a package from Sparrow Post Va. (we have our own version of Sparrow Post down here in the South- pretty fast since the birds are always migrating south, we get our mail quickly.)

And me, I'm settling in as well.

My office is really coming along. Hopefully I will have some lamps in here as well so I can do my work.

Wow, it's good to stretch. I've been working most of the day to update the blog,. Hope you enjoy the pics of us settling in!

More of Strawberry Hill Manor dollhouse...

So as promised, I took some more in depth pics of the Strawberry Hill dollhouse that is going to be the tinies' home for a little while. This dollhouse was a yard sale find for $20 at a church yard sale and came with some old furniture, the only thing missing was the components for the slant roof over the attic rooms. I am in the process of looking for some battery powered lights for it. But in these pics you can see the dollhouse front with the doors closed, and open. It currently sits on a small wood cube stand in my display room. I love the furniture in the kitchen and dining room, but it needs to be more comfy & modern. The office, next to the parlor, will be updated with a computer for Dixie as well, and a bed in the night nursery will be added too. I still have an attic bedroom not finished, that could be Minuette's room, since she doesn't like the furnished children's attic room- says the bed is not comfortable. dolls....the Realpuki when she arrives may sleep inthe night nursery.

Minuette loves the kitchen, but it is dark and cramped, and the best use of space hasn't been made. I may move that large hutch into the dining room, it will match the white & pine table and chairs I have for it already. The scandanavian table and chair are just too adorable, and they and the stove were given to me by Susan Sirkis, one of my miniature doll friends. But the stove needs to be more modern, so the sink and stove will come out and make way for a more modern one ,
All for now, more updated pics as I do more on the house, and working on cleaning out the display room.

Tiny Bjd's 'rent' a home...on Strawberry Hill.

Hi All. Dixie here. Well, me & Maizie have been helping Minuette with her sweet shop, and it's been a hit. She is thinking about expanding to fresh breads & cheeses, and pastries, & having one of us run that shop next door to her candy & sweet shop, if her cousin in Florida will front the candy, er cheese. But that's another story. We tinies were tired of sleeping on the big dolls' bed. So with all the miniature real estate that abounds in Miss Lisa's house, we asked the Mad Hatter, Tarrance, our realtor, & he said he knew of a family of dolls that wished to rent out their large home Miss Lisa rescued from a yard sale a few years ago & fixed up for them. They are a large family of what Miss Lisa calls "artist' dolls and resemble peg wooden dolls. The house is so big it has a name- Strawberry Hill Manor! I'm here sitting in the parlor right now, and though big, it is cramped, but perfect for us tinies. Miss Lisa said I should speak to Miss Elizabeth Woodenhouse, & work out the rent and details with her.

At first, Minuette & Maizie didn't know how we were going to pay for it....& then they found out Miss Lisa had said it was important, because ANOTHER TINY was coming home in a few months from Denver Doll! A RealPuki Soso!

Maizie: ' another TINY! Is she serious???
Minuette: We are still living in my shop...
ME: Look guys, This Woodenhouse lady is really nice, Miss Lisa said we could stay there if it was Ok with her..

Minuette: Is there room for another tiny??
Maizie: I'm tired of sleeping on the candy shop floor
ME: So am I...what do ya think?

Minuette: Is it furnished- are there beds?
ME: Miss Lisa has enough to get us started, remember, some big dolls are leaving the dollhouse room tomorrow.
Maizie: LET'S DO IT!
So onto Miss Woodenhouse we went to meet with .....

Needless to say, we met with her in her parlor. It was cramped and not as modern as we had hoped. For one thing, they don't have any electricity!! Candles everywhere....Mrs. Woodenhouse explained her family was simply too large now to accomadate them comfortably. The rent was quite reasonable, and she said with Miss Lisa's approval, we could make any alterations we wished. The family had moved out and left what furniture they wanted to, Mrs. Woodenhouse left us the key and suggested we tour the house today to decide what would be needed. With that, we all decided to explore the house, which has three stories, plus two attic rooms that had been converted into children's rooms. I decided to check out the right attic bedroom first, since it was furnished.

It was filled with toys, and antique nursery wallpaper. Miss Lisa thought the new Tiny would like this room since she was a little young. I agreed with her on that.Minuette could sleep here now until we furnish her room.
Minuette checked out the 2nd floor rooms, while Maizie checked out the larger bedroom, which we would be sharing.

Miss Lisa explained the brass bed was someting from her childhood dollhouse, and she wouldlove it if Maizie & I used it. Her mother made the tiny yo yo quilt and pillows on the bed.

I checked out the kitchen, which made me a little hungry.....so I started a banana pie

There was another problem that Mrs. Woodenhouse & Miss Lisa forgot about- this house came with ALOT of animals!

We counted three dogs right here. Minuette 'found' a pet owl in a huge cage in what was supposed to be the night nursery right next to our bedroom!

Miss Lisa later explained that the owl had been created by an artisan friend in England, and was made for this cage. Minuette thought the owl would make a great pet for the Realpuki coming, and make her feel at home.

All in all, it isn't that bad of an old house. I see why Miss Lisa likes big old houses, the older the better. We tinies like it too, & Miss Lisa said she would look for some more up to date furnishings for the kitchen such as a modern stove . She is planning to really re-do her very very FIRST dollhouse her dad built her, which would be more to scale for our more comfy furnishings and has a closet for our Christmas decorations as well, and her beloved Rement. Soon the Woodenhouse family will want to move back in, so we will just be here temporarily until the new project of the really old dollhouse is redone.

It's going to be really nice living here, and enjoy the pictures!

Old & new pics of the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse...

These are some older pics of the dollhouse in my shop window- where it is still residing until we move it home...one reason my display room is in such a mess so we can make room for my favorite dollhouse next to Tara & Minnie's bakery. I have already brought home my tupperware bucket of dolls that I can't live without at the shop so they can reside on my shelves...when did I acquire so many silkies and Fashion Royalty dolls???? One reason for the basic membership at the W club, even though I was lusting after both the Kyori & the Avant Guard- and she looked like Poppy! Since there are other dolls who haven't made it home yet, we are sticking to our doll list for 2011 and no ifs ands, or buts. lol. The pictures above remind me of when I was a little girl and received my first dollhouse- it looked huge, because it was on wheels and I loved loved loved it. I stilll have it an intend to take it back and restore it, it was built on a scale of 1 1/2 inches to the foot, so it will be perfect for the pukifee I want to bring home, and a wonderful place for my tinies to reside with all of the Rement I am obsessed with collecting. I now have the Hinamatsuri set I purchased, I may set it up in one of hte bedrooms of that house if they are clean enough.

The kitchen still needs some work. I haven't decided whether I need to stick with this table, it is perfect for my bjd tinies like the brownies, pukis, and too small for Barbie, but would be great for my old childhood dollhouse, I suspect my 8 inch madame alexanders would fit in it perfect. Becky works ok in it but she's shorter than Barbie. In order to add the rest of the Sindy furniture like the oven range, I need to take the foamcore floor out and redo it. I wouldlike to do a scene in the dollhouse for Valentine's day, but don'tknow if that will happen anytime soon. hmm..Another excuse to drag out my Luxury french Rement...lol

I worked so hard on getting this scene just right before we set up the house in the window, I never tire of standing outside when I have time to see all the details I added. It has been most rewarding to share this wonderful piece in my collection with my customers and just passerby the shop. One thing that is neat is to be at the shop early in the morning and watch the joggers slow down on the sidewalk to take a look, that gives me such a good feeling to know that the house brings happiness to so many people. It really is trrue that there is a little bit of love of little things in all of us,...
I received more Rement from my favorite seller in Hong Kong, when I was bidding onthe seperate sets of Hinamatsuri, will take pics later today when I feel better. The flu has struck me again after I had it very bad on Sunday night Monday all day, and Tuesday as well, when I did not go to the shop. It struck both my husband and I again this morning.
I will be posting more pics later, probably of Minuette's sweet shop, when I rearrange it and get a little skit together. I think I have more of the Mickey mouse McDonald's madame alexander happy meal dolls, a boy which I need to add in the mouse sweet shop. I am trying to prepare a scene for Valentine's day and the Brownies needed new outfits, which are on their way. All for now- Lisa

Cute dolls at Cracker Barrel..& Minuette's candy shop...

I couldn't resist posting today...yesterday hubby & I went to Mass, then went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They are brillant on marketing strategy with a gift shop...I found these two adorable little dolls to add to the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse when it comes home...I hate the fact Mattel is revamping Kelly, or doing away with her altogether.

The little pink one came with a little white poodle, which is now residing in Minuette's candy shop. They were about $5 each, so if you have a Kelly or generic Kelly weakness like I do, go to Cracker Barrel! Their Valentine items were out & I couldn't help buying a pink rhinestone studded shirt to wear for my Lady Slipper dance unit for the Shrine. yeah, me!

Minuette's candy shop has come home to the display room, and some new or old items have been added. Still needs more Rement, which is on its way..I added another table & chairs and another Sonia Messner bakery rack. The cups and teacups look great on them. The bicycle out front & the little cat are from Hallmark, the bike is an ornament. Minuette likes the new location & thinks she'll get more business...I told her just hope that another mouse doesn't move in with a cheese shop, & she'll do fine.

I acquired some more Rement, it was a set I had bid on on Ebay- the ladies of the court in the Hinamatsuri set, it arrived today. It is so detailed! I think it might be nice to have an extra set of the ladies, and there is even a little box to store them in. This set came from Canada, I have an additional set coming from Hong Kong I bid on- it was the palaquins, I think.
The display room cleaning project is coming along- I will get some more pics soon. So many boxes of minis to go through I don't know where to begin. I'm also cleaning out older dolls that take up room as well.

Hinamatsuri Rement has arrived!

My Re-ment Hinamatsuri set has arrived! Squee! I found this set and had wanted and wanted it- especially to sell in the shop, but the distributor was wanting an idiot price wholesale- not really, since this set retails for $89-139 ON Ebay! However, I used The Find to price compare and found it at Katharines' Cottage a doll shop in California, for $69.95!!! This was one of my musts on my project doll list to do this year for 2011...to celebrate Hinamatsuri or the Japanese Girls' Festival, or Doll Festival as they do in Japan. I have long lusted after soem of the Hina dolls on Ebay, and will probably slowly begin to collect them...I have some wonderful geishas from Japan that belonged to my wonderful mother in law, Mrs. Neault, and we treasure them here, especially my husband, who is used to dusting dolls & is interested inthe Hinamatsuri celebration as well. On the third day of the third month- March 3rd, girls in Japan celebrate this event. I amhoping to have kimonos made for Felicity, Rebecca, and my bjds Gracie & Dottie by that time. I have kimonos for the fashion dolls, so the set wll probably be set up in the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse when it comes home.

On another note, my A Doll A Day Project 2011is going very well. I have always wanted to do something like this. My most recent pic from yesterday is the little 8 inch Madame Alexander ballerina I received when I was six or seven, she was one of my favorites. My first dollhouse made by my dad was built on a scale 1 1/2 inch to the foot, using her as his 'scale' for the windows and doors, lol. I am still working on my project list , which includes cleaning out the display room.

Shown above is the room after I had moved alot of items out of the way, mostly boxes and shipping boxes dolls and minis have come in. The items on the floor are my habit of accumulating fabric & craft supplies, which I am going thru at this time. The large dollhouse on the table is a yard sale find, Strawberry Hill Manor, which houses my collection of reproduction of Dutch penny wooden dolls by the late Fred Laughon I collected. Not shown are teh shelves which house the roomboxes and the fashion dolls, or my Barbies. Today Iw ill be dragging out the boxes and reorganizing the layout of the room to make room for the dollhouse displays from the shop- since I am having to close my brick & mortar shop, King William Miniatures. (Don't worry, I will still be online!)
I haven't yet taken out the Rement out of its box, but took pics of the Emporer & Empress, they are so detailed. Forgive my blurry pics!
On another note, please follow my blog- I am planning in the upcoming months to do some work on the one sixth scale dollhouse - finish the kitchen and the garage, which will be Ken's mancave. I am excited about the new Jason Wu dolls, so there will be more characters coming to the dollhouse!

Happy New Year everyone!

I wasn't feeling too sporty on New Year's eve, or I would have posted some cute photos I had been planning. that was stopped by the awful flu/cold bug so I was sick pretty much. Did however, watch Rocky Balboa movie on New Year's eve, and had never seen this movie, inexcusable for a Rocky & Sly Stallone fan such as myself.

Well, I don't make new year's resolutions- but this one was important. My new A Doll a Day 2011 project is in my flicker album, and I WILL post one photo a day of a dolly doing something! This will be so much more interesting than the regular ones- lose weight, stop smoking, etc. etc. lol! Wish me luck!

As many of you know, I own a shop, called King William Miniatures & Collectibles. Most of the lovely large scale Bespaq you see, I sell from my shop. This year, for the shop window, and an annual event called Holly Jolly Christmas which all of the Lakeside Avenue businesses participate in- we decided our theme would be- "Opening the Presents on Christmas Morning". Two porcelain dolls, 24 inches high, have just woke up and are looking at all of the wonderful presents under the tree, with their dog, and exclaiming over their HUGE dollhouse- which is the One Sixth Scale Dollhouse. Here are some of the pics for your enjoyment!

More Mickey Mouse Re-ment has arrived!

Well, I acquired some more Disney Re-ment. The tiny cups with Donald Duck, Mickey & Minnie Mouse aren't the only little pieces
of Disney Re-ment that arrived the other day. I love the Mickey cup, it looks so adorable with Minuette holding it. I haven't yet taken pics of
the other - it is a set of graduated cake or cupcake plates on stands. The cups were part of Rement broken up, I thought they would be cute on the bakery rack.
I hope to have some more pics of the sweet shop soon- I snapped these yesterday since I finally found some time to play with the tinies. Minuette has acquired help - two Madame Alexander McDonald dolls dressed as Minnie Mouse with the little ear hats! I found them at the recent doll show a couple of weeks ago here in Richmond.

The Tinies set up the Sweet shop...

Well, the tinies after attaining their lease where they have to pay in Candy! decided to rummage through the Re-ment and set up shop today. Minuette is the head honcho since her 'cousin' from Florida (hmm, wonder who that could be?) is backing her. She is carrying their brand in the shop, and is currently planning everyone's uniforms, which must be pink or red.

I had some wonderful mad hatter's tea items I had bought for the Alice diorama I am still collecting for, which looked great on the bakery shelf. I have some more Disney rement items coming as well. The Cheshire cat is from one of those quarter machines you put money in at BJ's...I have had him for a while. Now I need to go through my Fun Meals and Mini Sweets sets and put some doughnutsin the case, and dust...the tinies hate to clean.

I will be doing some more work on this little structure, I never finished the base part, it needs alot of touchup work. I plan to keep the wallpaper I have for it because it looks so soft and like candy. Enjoy the pics!
